So now who do the 9ers have to beat to prove they are for real?

I can tell you that I've never seen a fan base beg for respect like some of the 49er fans on here. At some point you would think they would figure out that nobody gives a shit about them or their team. It's a lot of fun to watch them chase their tail in hopes of catching it, kind of like a semi-retarded puppy.
Isn't OP a Titans fan?

Yeah, it's plain dumb luck that we didn't win a title in one of those years, but sports is an unpredictable place where luck plays a big role. Giants, Ravens, and Seahawks were deserving winners, though, and Seattle was really unlucky when they didn't win back to back titles.

Luck is an enormous part of every title. It's very rare a team just steamrolls everyone to an expected title. Only the 2017 Warriors come to mind, and even then they had a lot of luck getting that team assembled.

I didn't take the time to read all of these posts - is the OP still crying about lack of respect for the niners?

I say, just keep winning and you won't need to prove anything to anybody...until then SF is just another surprise team to me. Every season, there is one.

panthers in 2 weeks. they win at home, its legit. that carolina D is real.

they just destroyed last years NFC champion in their own house...

In that game...
  • The 49ers more than doubled Rams output in first downs (22 to 10), total yards (331 to 165) and passing yards (232 to 56)
  • San Francisco almost doubled Rams in time of possession (38:52 to 21:08). 38:52 time of possession is the 49ers highest of season.
  • The 49ers defense held the Rams to 165 total yards, the fewest allowed by the 49ers since Dec. 2017 at Chicago Bears [147 total yards (62 rushing; 85 passing)]. It also marked the fewest net yards by the Rams since Week 17 of the 2016 season against the Arizona Cardinals [123 total yards (52 rushing and 71 passing)].
  • The 49ers defense held the Rams to 56 yards passing, the fewest by an opponent since Week 17, 2010 at St. Louis Rams (22 yards).
  • In Weeks 5-6 this season, the 49ers defense held each opponent to 180-or-less total net yards [180 yards vs. Cleveland Browns; 165 yards at Rams]. The last time the team held an opponent to 180-or-less total yards in consecutive games was in 1990 [Week 10, 1990 at Dallas Cowboys [158 yards (78 rushing and 80 passing)]; Week 11 vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers [180 yards (102 rushing and 78 passing)].
  • The 49ers defense held the Rams to 22 net passing yards in the first half, the lowest by the Rams in a first half since head coach Sean McVay was hired by Los Angeles in 2017.
  • The 49ers defense's 22 net yards passing allowed in the first half were the fewest allowed in the first half of a game since allowing -1 net passing yards in the first half vs. Chicago (Week 11, 2012).
  • San Francisco held the Rams without a third (0-9) or fourth (0-4) down conversion on the day. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the last time the 49ers held an opponent without a third or fourth down conversion in a game was Oct. 1988 at the Rams (0-7 on third down and 0-1 on fourth down).
But if we beat the panthers we are legit? Gee I wonder why the panthers are your bar to clear? Oh right, because pats beat them 10-3 in the first game of the season..... Also the Rams beat the Panthers (putting up 30 points on that "legit" defense) and the 9ers just obliterated the Rams. 9ers are better than Pats. Period.

No. If you beat the Panthers you aren't legit. You have to beat the Atlanta Braves on their home field and even then it's not legit until you win the Finals at which point your team needs to play as Raphael on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles in Time ON HARD MODE, with the super power attack being the Y and B buttons combined. Now STFU and get out of here with your nonsense.

well, the rams are pretty awful, and goff is grossly overrated. he cant handle pressure, which we saw sunday too. like the superbowl. pats held them to 260 total yards.

its 2019 and the rams are 3-3

Who said the Rams were awful when they were 3-0 coming off an NFC championship?

No one. They were a winning team last week before the 9ers dismantled them like chumps. When Seattle beat them at home by one point, they were "a tough matchup that will be a true test for the 9ers" .... now they are "pretty awful"?

New England fan just told me we need to beat Panthers to prove we are legit now..... Rams beat panthers.

Niners are good no doubt, but power rankings wise, still probably around 6 or so. Records don't tell the whole story. I still have at a minimum the Patriots, Packers, Seattle, New Orleans, and Houston above you.

I was thinking the Rams issues started before the playoffs when Gurley's health really started to be questioned.
