Some games are fixed. Could be a ref, player, coach etc. Of course like in a sport like basketball, much easier for a player to do it. Remember back when Henry Hill was doing it with Boston College? I remember watching a Dolphins game when Jimmy Johnson was the HC and his team was an 10 pt fav. Miami had the ball up 8 in the opponents side of the field with like 40 sec left. On 3rd down instead of running the ball, or kneeing it, he called a T/O and sent his kicker in to attempt a FG. He hit, Miami won by 11 and covered, and a lot of people that took the other team at +10 were steaming, rightfully so, so blatant

True better off risk having the FG blocked or bad snap, ST return it for a td and 2 pt conv to tie, than to take a knee and secure the win, at least fans were happy. I like JJ, but cost me a bundle and I would have scalped his coiffed hair, shellacked it more, put in case for a souvenir

Trust me if I had money on it I would have been pissed too. But from his perspective it's a relatively low risk move that bought him love from the hometown fans. Now that they are putting sportsbooks inside the stadium I wouldn't be surprised if stuff like that comes up more often.
