Rand Getlin, reporter for NFL Network, said that technically Miller did not reject anything. He actually accepted the premise of the deal just wanted to speak about the guaranteed money a bit more. So again signs that this has stayed very respectful by the two sides and that they are still talking. This whole PFT idea that both sides are done and want nothing to do with each other is ridiculous click bait.

I was told he turned it down. Looking for more of 22 million a year.

Oliver Vernon got 17 million, he really upped our price on Von.

This a day later from your post, but I've heard, VM is fine with the $114 but wants the G$ to be north of $45m...I don't blame him actually...more impactful than Suh...should get more.

Definitely just needs to get done. I'm hoping both sides just say let's sit down and spend an entire day just deciding what is negotiable and what isn't and just get this done. Both sides want to get it done so no reason to drag it out until the final seconds.

Given the reports VM is okay with the overall and length...expect this to get done sooner rather than later.

Off topic, but taking a little vaca this week...flying into DIA in the morning cousin picking me up and we're heading out I70 to Grand Jct for 18 @ Redlands Mesa, and 36 more along the route back then 18 more in the metro area before heading back on Mon...weather looks good out there so I'm stoked.

Is school out there yet? I'm sure you guys get a nice long break...for me...we work 50 wks straight then shut down for 10 between Xmas and New Year, but I need a short break now!

I believe Denver has to deviate from their normal contract structure for Von Miller.

How much is winning the Super Bowl worth in extra revenue for the team? Denver does not win the Super Bowl without Von Miller. His playoffs and Super Bowl games were like nothing we have seen before .

Elway needs to change a little and show the other players that Miller is the face and will be paid accordingly.

I would bet winning the Super Bowl is an extra $10MM in Bowlen's pocket somehow.

Make it happen John.

Miller and Elway stepped aside to talk at the ring ceremony. Both walked away looking like the conversation went well and after when Miller was being interviewed he spoke of the Broncos in the present tense and didn't sound like sitting out for the year was on the table. Just have to wait and see them get this done.

Usually - when you are represented - you don't get to talk directly to the player w/o the agent being present. Von and Elway might have worked something out here - I don't know.

I agree. The agent has a lot of control over the player and unfortunately doesn't always give them sound advice. Elway has always shown great respect to players as he was one himself but also lets them know that he has an entire team to think about not just this players bank account. And I do think Von understands that all too well. So yeah I hope this conversation can keep pushing things ahead for the two. They need each other.

I'm not sure Elway wants to guarantee that third year fully at another $19MM. Another $19MM that would have to be escrowed. Another $19MM not available for signing bonuses to Sanders or Marshall.

Couple of things...

1) I don't think he does either. Really the only defensive player in the league that has had that 3rd year fully guaranteed was Suh. All others had the first 2 years guaranteed and then just a little extra. When we are looking at actual truly guaranteed with no stipulation type money we are looking at around the $42.5 million range for Von Miller. That is what I think Marcel Dareus got. Elway in this past deal guaranteed $38.5 million. So again why I say they are not as far apart as many in the media have made it sound.

2) Elway can organize the contract where say some of that guaranteed money doesn't have to go into an actual account. That it becomes fully guaranteed on a certain date but that Elway can't actually back out of the deal. There are ways to keep the cash flow side of things going while still paying Miller big time money. It won't be easy to get all 3 done but I could easily see 2 of the 3 done with Miller for sure one of those two.

Honestly, I would pay Miller, but in his contract I'd have something about failing another weed test he loses money.. Guy is one failed test away from a year long suspension. I have no issues paying him big time as long as he doesn't fail another weed test.

I don't think weed should be tested, but I agree - the language in the contract - must adhere to whatever the drug testing rules are in the League at the time.

Actually new drug rules have changed that. Von Miller is no longer in the drug program for the NFL. If a player can stay clean for 2 years straight then they actually have the slate wiped clean. So now Von would have the first strike where he would just receive more tests but no suspension.

I do agree though there needs to be some kind of language put into the contract to deter him from some of that.

Great news, was not aware of that. I would still have something in his contract as a repeat offender. (Probably anyone's contract for that matter, but especially a guy getting that much money who has already served a suspension for it.
