What can I say - I'm addicted to no depreciation! The Waggy worked out well as my daily short driver to work and didn't cost me a cent in 3 years. I might have even made a grand after it all.

So, after fighting with a few assholes at car lots (they just couldn't help but lie about shit - it was ridiculous) and looking at new stuff, I got frustrated and called a dealer I know. This guy bought my Blackwood and I've kept in touch since...sending him a few clients as customers n' sech.

I bought a 1973 Mustang convertible he found with only 40k original miles. It's in perfect condition and only cost me 10 grand. It would have sold for closer to $15k but it doesn't have factory A/C. But I asked my mechanic and looked into and adding A/C (without changing the dash) will only cost about $1600 - $2000 when you include everything - even changing to a fan with more blades and labor and everything.

I hope it wasn't a big mistake! Will take some pics when I get it tomorrow. Basically, it looks just like this:

Hell Yeah.
That thing is nice.
Good job on finding that.

Aftermarket A/C is good idea.
Being a 1973, I guess it has the 351 engine in it with automatic??
Do you know what the rear gear ratio is?

I like it.;

I don't know much, yet. It does have a 302 - which I'm happy about. I'm quite familiar with the 302 from a boat I used to have that had 2 of them. It's also less prone to overheating in stopped traffic like we have here in the tourist season. But we'll see...the dealer drove it everyday for a week and said "it's like new." But you know how that goes!

Even if it had factory A/C, the aftermarket stuff is so much better. You can get a DIY kit for about $1500, so if he is quoting you that price it's a great deal to have him install it.

That is one fine looking car, well done!

Thanks. Yeah, I just bought the entire A/C kit for the car last night, the proper 508 bracket, a 6 blade fan to pull enough air and that came to about $1,200. The dude won't charge more than $300 to put it in - he's always cheap and a good guy.

My sister would love that car.

FFFFUUUU! It is pretty tame, with fake Mach 1 stickers and all that. But it's an island car...will seldom see 50mph.

I gots good a/c. I'll letcha wait 10 minutes at the red light until you get sweaty and give up.

And that's what I paid the dealer! I bet he didn't pay over $7,500 - knowing the way they operate. It was an estate deal and he had to buy several cars together. So, he probably already made a chunk on the other stuff.

Nice car Juice. If you want to know how it left the factory, go to Mustang dataplate decoder.
It'll tell you what it left the factory with.

Thanks! I checked it out and no suprises - which is nice. She's all original.

I took it for a ride this morning. 3,350 pounds doesn't handle all that well on old suspension. I might work on that pretty soon. It obviously has a new fuel pump, distributor, wires, belts, hoses radiator and water pump...can't even be a year old. The car must've been sitting forever so they had to replace all that shit for sale. However, they set the idle pretty high which means it probably runs a bit rough.

Sounds like a job for my ol' boat mechanic - those guys are always masters with a carb.

...will put some pics up later today.

Yeah, those big long front ends give them one hell of an understeer.
I finally replaced my original Autolite carb 2 years ago. Got sick of trying to get it to run right with it.

Snapped a couple pics for insurance this morning. Hope it doesn't show too big...can't get it into the editor for some reason.

When are you going to put a little more muscle under the hood?

pretty soon. The front suspension is new but the rear is shit. So, I'll get that beefed-up, add a/c and address a few minor issues like the brakes needing a flush and other potential problems from sitting a long time.

I'm thinking I'll work backwords since my best guy does exhaust and he's doing the a/c install. When it has more exhaust room I'll think about pumping more air in. New aluminum heads?

Soooo...ya went out and got er eh? White ragtops ghey for sure, change that to black ASAP. Nice for a Ford, what kind of rim options are available for this year? Yeah all those suspention parts need up grading for sure along with the swing arms and brakes et al. Should be a blast getting that sucka ready for your daughters sweet 16th give away.

Good stuff and congrats...now strip it all down and show us all the daily progress please. Love this kind of shit.

Thanks, but the seats should match the top and there's no freakin' way anyone should have black seats in a convertible in FL. That said, I see them all the time around here...must be like sitting in a frying pan.

I probably won't hang onto this one as long as the Wagoneer. Everybody comments on it and I bought it really cheap. So, if somebody gives me close to 20 grand it's gone!

Says who? Change the interior after a few years of foreplay in that sucka. No need for vinyl for christ sakes, make it leather/cloth...cream color or whatevers.
