How are you coming up with the $28M number for Kirk? Are you suggesting they transition tag him?

Yeah. I see a scenario where we transition tag Kirk, he doesn't sign an offer because he knows we will match it. So he plays another year under the tag. Like I said though, Kirk absolutely not wanting to be here is speculation on our parts. The team and staff probably have a better sense of what is true.

I find amusing that we have posters from other teams on here commenting on Cousins and to a man (or woman as the case may be) say we are crazy not to sign cousins. Like the rest of the league, they see a competent, maturing QB who most teams would kill to have. yet we still have fans of this team that can't wait to see him out the door. This is baffling until you realize that there are other motives for their dislike.

Can you imagine Kirk in Pittsburgh with that line, Bell, and Brown? Wow

First of all, Kirk Cousins is a class act and whether he wants to be a Redskin or not, he won't change his effort or level of play. He'll give it his all regardless of where he is and if you believe he hasn't while he's been in DC you really must be pretty stupid.

Secondly, there's no reason for Alex Smith to want to go to DC whatsoever, knowing that the supporting cast in kansas city is orders of magnitude better than it would be in Washington, and despite the fact that the Chiefs choke every year and will never win a super bowl, he knows as well as the next guy that he would never even sniff the super bowl in DC.

Thirdly, Kirk Cousins is a better quarterback than Alex Smith.

It takes a special kind of stupid to say the sort of thing that is said by the opie of this thread but there are PLENTY of Redskins fans out there who are that special kind of stupid and apparently we've got one of them on this forum lol...

Most QB's don't develop that are drafted in rounds 3-5. A few exceptions, but not many. You might get a guy that's just good enough to start, but will take you nowhere. You have a good QB. You also had a lot of injuries this year. Any QB is a crap shoot. Keep what you have and pay the money or get good trade value for him.

Russell Wilson, Kirk Cousin's, Dak Prescott and Tom Brady wouldn't agree.

This far in, you are probably right. You got an owner that is no comment, a GM that keeps trying to lowball you. And a portion of the fan base that STILL wishes you had never even gotten a chance.

I honestly cant be mad at him if he wants out of DC.

Of course he wouldn't, although he's too good a guy to tell you that.

Then again, no one in their right mind would want to sign a long-term deal with the Redskins, even despite the fact that they've gotten a little less incompetent in the last three years than they were under zorn or shanny

Draft a QB in rounds 3-5 to develop, then sign Alex Smith when the Chiefs release him in the summer…Skins won’t miss a beat in QB production.

I would wager my left, and right nut that this TEAM would be much better with a QB equal to KC’s skill set that actually wants to be a REDSKIN...and that BTW is Alex Smith.

I can see a rationale as to why Kirk wouldn't want to be a Redskin. Not that I think that's necessarily the case, but I can see it. What I have a problem seeing though is why Alex Smith wants to be a Redskin?

Neither would Joe Montana. But the majority still don't develop. Keep Kirk Cousin's. He has championship quality.

If Kirk wants to be a Redskin, they gotta make it happen, but at some point you have to stop begging your girlfriend to stay and cut your losses.

Offer him the Stafford deal plus some and if he still says weeellll I don't know...., you gotta start taking care if the guys that want to be here and look for a QB in the draft to groom. My stance is this situation needs to end one way or another this season. Hopefully ith Kirk here. We just need to know so we can move forward.

Question is, when have they ever even proposed to Cousins, much less begging him to stay. They treated him like the baby momma they never should have railed. Then when he turned out to be better than the hot chick they wanted, they still tried to lowball him.

Kirk......."Bruce still doesn't know my first name, he continues to offer me the exact same deal every summer and let both of my 1000yd WR's walk in the same year(the only team to ever do that in the history of the NFL)."

Yeah, where do I sign.

Well since we're at it let's throw some more wood on this fire.

Jimmy Garoppolo for Kirk Cousins? Crazier ideas have been ...
www.espn.com/.../id/34266/jimmy-garoppolo-for-kirk-cousins...discussed

That article was written in early Nov before Garoppolo played a single down for the 49ers. He has now won 3 straight games for the 49ers while putting up awesome numbers & looking like the real deal at QB. No way that the 49ers don't sign him to a LTD at this pt. That idea might have had some merit in Nov but certainly not now.

Wrong, Oscar. Go look at the NFL rosters and check and see where the QB's were drafted. They are a bunch that were drafted in rounds 3-6 that are pretty damn good.

Yeah. Garoppolo seems to be a long term solution there. If they add Barkley in the draft......
