Well, I'm sure some people are:

1) Sick and tired of these 'live action' remakes. Please do something original... and sure enough LILO AND STITCH IS LINED UP, lol. Like good fuckin' lord. I mean at least Mario, Barbie, and even Minecraft TRIED to do something different?

I think this also goes for a lot of the Marvel stuff and 'expanded universe', people are just burnt out on it. Find a new IP. And the best way to encourage that is for live action, Marvel, etc. to flop. Even Alien Romulus started out good, but then was just like Aliens + Prometheus + Covenant + Alien Resurrection decided to have a baby.

2) Snow White was one of the most beloved animated films of all time. A lot of people grew up with it, their kids have grown up with it.. it was honestly more about the loveable dwarves than Snow White herself. It was a pretty magical experience for many. And then to watch it get THIS treatment (which we knew even before the trailer) with a sassy annoying lead who can't keep her mouth shut.. while Disney tried to 'modernize it'... yah.. it rubbed a lot of people the wrong way.


Now I am on the side of point 1. Ugh ANOTHER live action remake... which is HARDLY live action these days. It's a fuckin' CGI remake with a couple humans thrown in.. hell some video games have parts that look better. Can you PLEASE for the love of God go find a new IP? Do SOMETHING new? I guess it's for the kiddies, and that's fine.. although my nephew/niece (younger) love the original Lion King, Little Mermaid, etc. way more. There's just things you can do with animation/cartoons you can't get away with in real life or a CGI pretend real life.

As to point 2.... that I really don't care. I really don't care if the actress is a whiny annoying self centered bitch. If the movie is good it's good. And I watched the original Snow White as a youngin' but it was kind of whatever to me. So I don't care if they change the story. That said, a lot of people do...


So I don't know why you're baffled that some are 'celebrating' the movie flopped. Sometimes, the only way to get a Company to change their direction and start releasing a good product, is to vote with our wallets. Same thing is happening with Ubisoft. Same recycled games over and over and caring more about woke/DEI (and that just is what it is). Now that said, if you woke/DEI your game - I don't care, is it a good game? Well no, because you put all your effort into that apparently. So you release a crap product, but then virtue signal. Not exactly a good recipe lol... and Ubisoft is tanking. Well, now Tencent (China) bought a huge portion of Ubisoft. While it's China... ya know what China does care about? Making good fuckin' games.

There's always going to be people that are upset because a) It's NOT THE ORIGINAL STORY, b) It's ANOTHER CGI REMAKE (kind of me, I don't get upset I just kind of roll my eyes and forget about it), c) IT'S WOKE/DEI MODERNIZED BLLALRRRRG!

So yah... whatever. People are going to be annoyed for various reasons. And there's the inverse of that too.

That's a small minority by the way. The majority of the public doesn't care about what Rachel Zeglers message is, or DEIsney's message, etc. They just go to a movie and watch lol.

I'd say the reason Snow White is doing terrible is because a) it's a tired product, and b) it just looks like crap, lol. I mean I'm sorry, but the animation looks God awful, the dwarves are nightmare fuel, the acting from various clips looks a little meh, c) there's plenty of people that don't care about Snow White (me for one, as I already said), and d) when you have THAT many reshoots, it's usually not a good sign. The direction/technical side, etc. was done poorly and it'll be a mish mash of 'stuff'. When any movie comes out and I know it went through tons of reshoots/delays, it usually results in a shit movie.

I don't think there's that many people 'celebrating' that it bombed. I think they're moreso celebrating that they knew it'd bomb. Kind of celebrating their pretty secure assumption lol. It's like if someone said, "The Eagles are gonna DESTROY the Chiefs. It wont even be a competition" but didn't really care about either team, lol. Well, I wouldn't say it wasn't made for middle aged men (is that you Brie Larson? )... plenty of adults enjoy movies targeted for a younger audience, that's okay, right?

And I'm sure people out there enjoy it. Your friend and the daughter/friends loving it, is a small sample size lol. But sure, that's great they enjoyed it. People enjoy movies I don't like or don't like movies I like all the time. *shrugs*

Again, I kind of laid it out for you. People are prob. happy it's bombing for the reasons I mentioned. Some because they 'predicted it' (oh wow, I mean whatever gives you purpose in your day, but I'm guilty at times of doing that too), some because they hate seeing a classic remade (SOMETIMES it works, The Thing remake is my fave horror movie, so hey...), etc. There's some merit in celebrating it bombed because it does affect the Company financially and hey... last I checked Disney is a public Company and you can short stock. And the writing was on the wall with this one lol.

but why not cash in on IP they already have out there? There's a whole generation of kids out there who aren't going to get into the 1962 version of Snow White...the animation is dated and it doesn't hold up.

I think that's where everyone got frustrated what they did with Star Wars. You had such a HUGE amount of stories, fan fiction, etc. available... and then you just rebooted a New Hope, lol. Or did Solo. Or went right back to Obi Wan, etc. I think that's why everyone was so refreshed when Mandalorian came out. Like yah there was the little homage at the end, but whatever.. it was SOMETHING different. Or it's why people like the Jedi Fallen Order/Survivor video games.
