How you're trying to apply it in this specific case, I don't agree with.

You're saying because of a bunch of bad ratings, the movie tanked. I disagree. Because it looked like a crap movie, and had the elements I stated above, and may have not interested the audience of today (look at Minecraft, that's what the kids want now lol), is why the movie tanked.

The ratings for the most part are just the aftermath of it. Hell even the critics (who prop up these movies or video game studios) rated it poorly.

I'm sure it may have influenced some? Not the vast majority though. And the bad rep may be warranted. Sure there's going to be haters. But maybe, just maybe, the movie actually did suck.

I mean again the signs were there. Before the movie even came out projections (not by the haters/public) were the movie would not do well, based on test screenings, financial institutions and their predictions, etc.

its not really even the bad reputation... its that people this movie was not targeted to in the first place would see it just to complain about what the bad reputation is all about...

there should be an extra critics metric that represents how a movie is going to be enjoyed by the target audience vs EVERYONE ELSE>.

I was having a discussion with ill on some points that were brought up. There are plenty of asshole actors out there in real life, that still make entertaining movies. This was not one of them.

As for the film itself, it's interesting to discuss. A movie like Snow White CGI remake prob. should've been a slam dunk, but it was far from it and will lose big money. It could change how big Corporations in the entertainment industry start to develop/market their products (along with things like what Ubisoft/Sony has been putting out in gaming).
