Youtube critic review: Gal Gadot is brilliant as the Queen. The rest of the movie is typical hollywood crap.

FWIW, I actually got this one wrong. The youtube review I saw (Critical Drinker) said Gadot was abysmal. It also sounds like the movie was 'typical hollywood crap' but they tried to sort of remake half of it as a result of initial impressions which might have actually made the movie much worse.

If you're going to piss everyone off, just do it. Don't piss everyone off, realize you screwed up, and then just appease them halfway while deflating whatever you were trying to say in the first place.

There has been 2 years of heavy bitching about this movie. I am not certain there would need to be anything “organized” to get everyone to down this flick. It is a natural lightning rod.

I doubt it. The movie from what I've heard and based on the trailers is just terrible. It doesn't help Zegler is one of the most hated actresses at the moment either. Those dwarves are nightmare fuel, Gal Gadot is not a good actor, she never has been. She's pretty to look at or throw in some action scenes in a skirt, and that's about it. And they changed a lot of the themes and story of one of the most beloved animated films of all time. That's a major irk with people.

The film has done $140M gross worldwide (meaning Disney only gets $70M of that)... for a film they spent $450M on. It's not just the ratings, people just aren't watching it. Even famous streamers (who are far more trustworthy than any journalist) have commented that they really didn't care for it, and some of the more popular streamers said they fell asleep a couple times in it, or walked out lol.

And I think there's more than just it being a terrible movie and Zegler's crap... a lot of people are just SICK of these live action movies and attempts to milk old franchises. It happened with the Avengers too.

As for 'gaming' the system, whatever. That can swing both ways. End of day, I think it's just a shitty movie. And when a film goes through THAT many reshoots, cuts, tests horribly with audiences, does MORE reshooting, delays, etc.... it's a pretty good indication it's going to be shit. Hell just from the trailer and clips, it LOOKS horrible. Live action my ass... it's a CGI fest that looks worse than some of the better designed video games with a couple human people on screen.

And Disney clearly indicated several times this was a new take on Snow White to make her a strong, powerful, independent woman! Nobody wanted that. Again as said above, you took one of the all time classic animated movies in HISTORY, and fucked around with it to modernize it. That's also a thing people are sick and tired of.

After hearing that they significantly changed the story, it was obvious this movie was going to be a huge failure. They should’ve just made a different movie and not tried to tie it to an existing story. It was really arrogant of them to make this movie the way they did and those people should never make another movie again if the movie studios care about money.

Other than Wonder Woman (at times), I haven't really been impressed by Gal Gadot.

She's really pretty, but can't really act. We'll see if she can really pull off a villain (if she's actually a villain in this film, which is not a sure thing).

I'm just going to echo what @Edonidd said and that if you cast Gal Gadot as the villain then you've already messed up. Thats like casting the Rock as Lex Luthor. Not only does Gal Gadot have a large fanbase as a popular icon but she is more attractive than 99.99% of people. She is probably one of the best strong female leads you could cast right now.

If you want to make this movie then fine but I don't understand why you'd attach the Snow White name to this outside of just trying to make money. I realize making movies like Encanto and Moana is hard but they'll live on forever and Disney will be making money on them forever as pillars of their Disney+ and in their theme park. These live-action movies will sit in the back with the straight to video Disney crap that I grew up with.

Why should Gadot be pigeon holed? Why not show that she has the ability to act in any role?

The casting for a lot of these live action Disney movies is strange. In terms of casting, Aladdin is probably the best. Emma Watson as Belle is bad. Gal Gadot was the Queen is abysmal. Awkwafina in Little Mermaid getting singing roles is an attack on art.
