How has Russ Wilson gotten so bad at throwing a football?

He had that finger injury in 2021 when Geno had to come in for a few games and Wilson rushed it back. I think when he threw he hit his pinky really hard on a helmet and basically damaged the finger. It was supposed to be a surgery and like a 6 week recovery but he rushed it back. Anyway, when he came back he was just missing wide open guys, the deep ball was no longer the same, his throws were just WAY off.

I don't think he ever recovered from that injury. He had decent games to finish off the season but Penny was running like a maniac and it was against SUPER cupcake defenses... I remember when everyone was saying Wilson was going to get a SuperBowl in Denver I was thinking they'd be lucky if they made the playoffs. To me it was clear Wilson was not 100% and his throw was being impacted by that finger damage.
