I hear the Pebble one is best. Here is a vid about the Samsung. I hate digging for my phone when it rings or I just want the time or something quick. But I won't be getting one yet.

It never pays to be an early adaptor.
These are beta + releases.

I'd give this 1-2 years of products and upgrades before I'd buy into one.

Well, they are wrapping up the apple watch presentation and I see no reason to drop $350 on it. Like I thought it is a fancy fitbit that costs 3 times as much and has what looks to be an annoying UI.

and the apple watch looks like a dud. Check out the Moto 360, and wait for a version 2 of that watch to come out. :suds:

Yeah...looks better. The very next version will probably knock out the few obvious problems.

having to turn the display on every 5 seconds is a huge turn off.

the applewatch makes the pebble look like calculator watches kids wore in elementary school. i'm sure if you line them up side by side and compare tech specs or features, you'll think a Samsung or Moto watch is "better" but the war won't be won like that. it'll sell like hotcakes and be even better the next generation. Add in the NFC payment system, healthkit, etc. and I would not bet against it. plus, $350 for a watch is nothing...

I'm going to fund my purchase of the watch by writing a masturbation tracking app - going to be a millionaire!

I'm too cheap for any Apple products. So, I could care less about the apple watch.

Maybe I'll buy a Chinese throw away to get a feel for the experience: Smart Bluetooth Wrist Watch Phone for iOS iPhone Android Samsung Motorola HTC LG | eBay

So, I bought a cheapity cheap smartwatch for my Galaxy S5 just to see if I liked the utility of wearing it. It cost $27 on AliExpress.

The report is: I like it! When I'm driving or doing whatever and a text comes in, I can just glance at my watch while the text shows for 30 seconds...or go back and read it later. When a call comes in, I just answer and talk on the watch. Everyone says it sounds very good on the other end and I can hear it fine.

Not having to dig out the damned phone for some stupid call or text is worth it. Me likey. When the expensive ones get good, I'll throw this in the trash and buy the Motorola or Samsung version.

The best thing about the Samsung is it comes with it's own separate phone number, if you wish, for 10 bucks more per month on your plan. So, if you forget your phone or the battery dies or whatever, you can still make calls n sech on your watch without bluetooth...quite convenient.

^ Update after a month of daily use. I still like it.

If you buy one: Get a smartwatch with the speaker on the side which naturally comes toward your ear when you hold that wrist up to your face. The speaker is way loud enough - but you'll want to turn it down and hold it toward your face so everyone else isn't listening.

Plugging it into a normal USB charger is no hassle since the charge usually lasts 2 days and I take a watch off at night anyway.

The only setback is not 1 but 2 old fuckers said "who you think you are, Buck Rodgers?"

IMO, nobody will ever use a smartwatch for anything more than taking quick calls, glancing at a new text and maybe noticing a preset alert of some kind. Anything else and you'd just open your phone. So, all the features they'll pack into the big name brands will be silly.
