^ Update after a month of daily use. I still like it.

If you buy one: Get a smartwatch with the speaker on the side which naturally comes toward your ear when you hold that wrist up to your face. The speaker is way loud enough - but you'll want to turn it down and hold it toward your face so everyone else isn't listening.

Plugging it into a normal USB charger is no hassle since the charge usually lasts 2 days and I take a watch off at night anyway.

The only setback is not 1 but 2 old fuckers said "who you think you are, Buck Rodgers?"

IMO, nobody will ever use a smartwatch for anything more than taking quick calls, glancing at a new text and maybe noticing a preset alert of some kind. Anything else and you'd just open your phone. So, all the features they'll pack into the big name brands will be silly.
Great update. I'd add that maybe I'm just an old fucker, but I'd probably also use that fancy smart watch to tell time more than anything.

I don't have any use for a watch as an extension of my phone. It really makes zero sense to me at all.

However getting rid of all but a small display and adding all of the processing and tech bits into the watch to REPLACE my phone in combination with someyhing like Google glass or some other peripheral makes an absolute ton of sense to me. That's when I'll convert over to this technology.

IMO the function of a watch is outdated when everyone carries a phone that tells time with them everywhere they go. Others have brought it us before but the interesting thing about these new smartwatches is how they track physical activity and sleeping patterns. As long as Fitbits, Nike Fuel, etc. are all in the price range of the smart watches I can see how the extra bells and whistles could get people to buy them.

Juice, isn't holding your watch near your ear a little more awkward than simple holding a phone to it?

Well, I gave you a bad visual. I guess I didn't hold it up 'to my ear,' but I did hold my wrist up toward my face. You just do it naturally, without thinking. You won't have to, but you will...like Captain Kirk holding his communicator out in front of himself.

Here's the best way to summarize: With my phone in my pocket and wearing the watch, when the phone rang I answered the watch. It's just right there and you just touch it. When a text comes in, I would always just glance at the watch to read it. I guess that's the point - when wearing the watch you use it for the handiness of those actions.

I bought the wife a FitBit and she didn't even use it for a week. The watch does those things but, personally, I don't get why anyone would care?

Anyway, this is why you buy the 25 dollar throw-away...to see if you'll actually use it. I'm way too cheap to give Motorola 400 bucks for a device I might not have used after a few days.

Cam lusts after my iWatch. He can't keep his eyes off of it. He wants to ask to hold it but his pride keeps getting in the way.

Seriously, I want one soon.

I have the moto 360 with the stainless band. I think it was like $230 on Amazon. The rubber banded ones are cheaper though.
