While I hate to say it about one of my fellow Ducks, Lamike was never going to be a starter in San Fran. With Gore there when he was drafted and their style of running his size just doesn't fit.

The 49ers exercised the fifth-year option on linebacker Aldon Smith on Friday, the team announced. It's worth $9.75 million in 2015 and becomes fully guaranteed next March.

You're laughing at the 9.75 million figure??? He's worth 15+.

And if he gets suspended he doesn't get paid for those games.

One more screw up he might get suspended for the season and then he won't be chasing RW anywhere. He's a hell of a player and hopefully he can get his shit together.

I think the Colin Kaepernick butt-hurt saga will continue next year after the Seahawks repeat as division champs.

Man! Seeing Clay Bennett's scowling, unhappy face after the Thunder got eliminated was PRICELESS, wasn't it? :yahoo:

What's up with the 49ers giving Kaepernick $100 million to continually choke in playoff games? I'd be willing to choke in playoff games for HALF that much money. :)

You're firm at 50 million huh? You play hard ball. :)

Actually, that's just about what a mediocre choke artist is worth in the NFL these days (see Tony Romo & Matt Ryan). Even average QBs are so extremely expensive in 2014, it's almost not even worth re-signing them unless they're REALLY good (I wanted Kaepernick traded).

But it was the safe move for GM job security and long-term almost-winninty, and it's sometimes better to be lucky than good. So I'm going to be rooting for a ton of luck, few injuries, some bad calls in the Niners' favour (which the Ravens, Packers and Steelers can attest is no small factor), and some good ol' fashioned PED users not getting caught. :hope:

Lots of 9ers were running their mouths over the Lynch situation this week.

They got their own shit to worry about.

Vernon Davis doubles down on contract holdout

San Francisco 49ers tight end Vernon Davis explained the rationale behind his absence from the team's voluntary offseason workouts in a guest column he penned in Sports Illustrated's MMQB.

It is not clear if Davis will show up for the start of the 49ers' mandatory minicamp, which begins on Tuesday.

If Davis is not present, he is considered a holdout and the team can fine him.

"In 2010 I signed a five-year, $37 million contract extension with $23 million guaranteed. It was the biggest contract for a tight end in league history," Davis wrote. "Four years later, and I'm playing at a higher level than I was then, which brings me to why I'm holding out. It's all about getting paid what you deserve. It's not that complicated. I want the 49ers to win the Super Bowl, and I want to be on the field this summer working towards that goal, but I have to worry about my future first."

Meh. Not worried about veteran players like Vernon Davis or Alex Boone missing OTAs or training camp. The name of the game or the vet's is stay healthy; they don't exactly need rep's. I'm more concerned with the backups & young players getting time in.

...and Kaepernick of course 'cause he needs all the work he can get.

Niners have an extremely efficient front office

San Fran is saving a ton of money this summer, which is clearly a sign that they have an elite front office. First, Eric Wright retired so they don't even have to pay him another dime! And Second, Vernon Davis and Alex Boone are both skipping mandatory practice, allowing the team to keep part of their salaries as well!! How are we supposed to compete with a franchise as well-run as that??

Think of all the extra money they can now give Harbaugh to buy more Walmart khakis.
