Cowboys' Prescott dominates with 4 TDs vs. Dolphins
Arun Srinivasan Aug 19, 2016 9:44 PM
Dak Prescott is proving he's ready for the professional ranks during the preseason.

Prescott excelled for the Dallas Cowboys on Friday evening against theMiami Dolphins, going 12-of-15 for 199 yards, two touchdowns, and a perfect 158.3 QB rating. The rookie quarterback also added 28 yards rushing and two more touchdowns on three carries.

Selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft, Prescott belied his draft status, delivering a picturesque touchdown pass to Dez Bryant.

"There is an energy that comes with him to the field," Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said of Prescott postgame.

It's Prescott's second consecutive strong outing, after finishing 10-of-12 for 139 yards and two touchdowns during the Cowboys' preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams.

Although Tony Romo is locked in as the incumbent starter, Prescott appears to be an excellent contingency plan if the veteran is injured or struggles to regain his form. Romo went 4-of-5 in a limited outing Friday.

Romo gave credit to Alfred Morris and Prescott for engineering a strong running game.

"We were able to run the ball today. The entire first half when I was in and with Dak we have been able to run it. That's going to make the game a lot easier. Then it's just going out and executing," Romo said to ESPN's Todd Archer.

So did Ryan Leaf in his pre-season games as a rookie. Just saying. Heck, ill let the kids have their fun over there in believing they have Johnny Unitas reincarnated... as a brother.

Sure, it's just pre-season but if he was sucking balls......everybody would be roasting him.

It goes both ways, folks.

Morris was a smart pickup by Dallas. They have potentially a 3 headed monster at RB.

We said the same thing about Griffin after the first season. How quickly things can change.
Yeah, but that's you guys. Don't think that just because your franchise was unsuccessful with Griffin means it applies to Dak Prescott. I hate when fans compare the experiences they've had with their team and think it can be applied to other teams.

People only use the "it's just the preseason" argument when it's convenient for them. Preseason is very important for young players. It doesn't mean they will perform well in the season, but it doesn't hurt to play outstanding in the preseason. You want your young guys playing well in the preseason so you can see what you have in the player. Now if Dak was some veteran QB lighting up the preseason, then the preseason argument applies. This argument does not apply to a rookie. You want your rookies to play well in the preseason.

If RG3 had the Cowboys OLine, Zeke in addition to Morris, Dez and Witten, he might have never been injured

This thread started out as something that should have been on the Smack Talk thread. Read Coaches original post, he as much asked Cowboy fans to come here and argue or debate. Lets follow the rules.

Agree on both for the most part but I'm more comfortable with Dak as the BU now than I was a week ago. Hoping Romo gets through 2016 and 18 standing up.
Maybe Dak isn't ready to be a starter but he is a good insurance policy behind Romo which is something we haven't had.
