I am assuming that we will release Hatcher. That is why De is a top need. Why aren't Blackmon and Dunbar CB's 3 and 4 on our team? Why doesn't that take care of CB? Robinson has been hurt all season that is why is play has been poor. Compton is the leader of the defense right now he is playing great as is Foster. That is 4 decent to good ILB's on our team. TE is now a need b/c Carrier wont be here in 2016 b/c of his injury. Not a great need but a need.

You are absolutely delusional to think that Elliot is not a first round pick. He will probably be the BPA when we pick in the 1st round and should consider taking him. Kearse the safety from Clemson looks like a freak. HIs size is incredible.

Bottom line a Bama DE, Kearse, or Elliot should be the top three targets in the first round.

its better for the cap to release hatcher in 17

Right. The best ILb in the draft is Ragland. So when we pick some people on here would pick Ragland over Elliot. I think that is a mistake. I am assuming Morris doesn't sign back with us. We have more depth at ILB than RB. Assuming Robinson comes back. Plus Robinson price should be cheap b/c of his injury riddled year.

Hatcher is constantly hurt. His knees are gone. He cant even proactive on Wednesdays b/c of it. I know he is a locker room leader but his play does not justify the money.

At least Baker is still a quality starter and we still have Paea. Not a single ILB on our roster starts anywhere else. I am all for taking a DE in the first though.

CB is another position you don't pass up good talent just because it isn't a huge need. If the best value is here, then you take it.

You and I have a totally different opinion of playing great. I like Compton but he is not a high quality starter. I also like Foster...but he isn't a quality starter. They are very good depth. Robinson has proven nothing in the league. He has proven to be injury prone and unable to tackle.

I would be happy with A'shawn Robinson, Kearse, or Ragland. Elliot would be a wasted pick. Explain to me why he is a better prospect than Mark Ingram was? Also, you don't think his outburst hurts his stock? RBs are system products and OL dependent.

Most on here simply believe you just don't waste a high pick on a RB. If we are picking in the 20s and no value is there...then yes...take Elliot. We won't be picking in the 20s unless we win the division and there will probably be better value at the slot.

Are you sure? Would you take Willis and the wins over AP?

willis contributed to the wins but he wasnt the sole reason for it

as it stands the fragile RB outlasted the ILB

I believe we will be picking in the early 20's. Elliot is a better prospect than Ingram. Elliot is a do all RB. Scouts are already saying he is better than Gordon and he was picked in the teens. I already explained why we should take Elliot. But if we take Robinson or Kearse over him I wouldn't get mad. It depends on what we do with Kennan on the Ragland pick.

AP has missed a good bit of time in his career. Willis retired...he wasn't hurt.

Willis was a perennial all pro that played every down. AP was a two down back because he can't catch or block.

Peterson is carrying the Vikings right now. One ILB can not win a Super Bowl. A top RB can win for you b/c he scores.

he tore an acl and came baack for 2000yds in a season 2nd all time he is the leading rusher this year

face it you take a game changer when you can regardless of position and great backs dont grow on trees

You can have AP and I will take the victories. This era of football is not about the RB that cannot catch or block. That doesn't win you games.

I agree with dean and dad that AP is a special RB. I also agree with gkekoa though concerning AP because his effectiveness can be damn near or completely neutralized as soon as the Vikes feel they need go into passing mode.

IMO the Vikes made a grave mistake in not teaching Peterson how to catch and block/recognize n pick blitzes as he not an inept pass catcher as evidenced by some of his pass catching stats. In 09 in caught 43 passes on 57 targets or a little over 75% of the passes thrown to him for 10 yards a pop gaining 436 yards. In 10 he caught 36 passes for 341 yards/9.4 ypc on 50 targets for 72% of the passes thrown to him. The only type of passes I've really seen thrown to AP have been dump offs and check downs. Had the Vikes made him a part of their passing game though. He'd never come out on 3rd down and he'd actually be running patterns and looked at as the main or secondary read on some plays and picking up blitzes.

I think the Skins are making a similar mistake with Reed as it concerns his blocking. They really need to work with him on that. As imo it would greatly lessen his liability to the Skins blocking-wise.

AP is a unique RB and is in a league by himself when compared to other RBs. But he has never taken his team anywhere. This alone should tell you that a premier RB is not the key to success, thus using a high pick on one is questionable. However, there have been plenty of teams that have won SBs with middle of the road RBs. Again proving that having a top notch RB is not a requirement in today's NFL offenses. In order to be a success in the NFL today, it's all about the passing game. The run is used to set up the pass.

Not sure who you are directing this to, but if you read what I posted I said he is in a class by himself. That means I think he is the best in the league. But it makes no difference. Minn has gone nowhere.

Emmitt was a different era when a RB did make a difference, just like riggo. But the recent rules changes that protects the QB and WR has turned the league into a passing league.

Dan Marino was a completely different era so I won't even address that comment.

If he's healthy.....it could be a decent signing. He's 31 but he's never been a full time starter (just 38 and only 822 career rush attempts) so he doesn't have a lot of mileage like a lot of other RB's would.
