This usually only happens in public leagues. In private leagues with good owners, most people have similar knowledge so there is little chance of jobbing someone there.

Less chance, yes. But not none. And, sometimes the benefit is not it having info, but in having it, and being able to use it first.

To me, there is a difference in being very knowledgable about a sport or topic, and, pretty much living it and being imersed in it 24/7/365. In is in this vein that I can respond to any number of fantasy issues with "that is what you get for having a real life. Me, I am not so botherd".
