They keep pointing to where the dollars go while IGNORING the fact that UofI gets more money per student by like 2:1 than BSU. Talk about inequity.

The University of Idaho will no longer be the state’s “flagship” university — at least in its mission statement — after the State Board of Education voted unanimously to remove the word from the Idaho’s mission statement at Thursday's meeting.

Idaho President Duane Nellis voiced strong opposition to the move before the vote. Nellis said the removal of the world will reflect “negatively” on the university and will impact “the continued success of the university.”

Board Vice President Ken Edmunds said he was sorry that the change “is being interpreted that way.” He said the board was trying to create a statewide system that “could compete against other states and other nations.”

Idaho's proposed mission statement began "The University of Idaho is the state's flagship and land-grant research university." Changes, however, were made to the document Wednesday during a working group session. Those changes were adopted Thursday.

Boise State's proposed mission statement, for contrast, began: "Boise State University is a public, metropolitan research university providing leadership in academics, research and civic engagement."

The fact that they are all having conniptions over the removal of a single word indicates they are insecure about their reputation and standing. If they really are a 'flagship' then people will know that without the term being there....................
