2558 walks. 688 intentional walks. I think even God was afraid of Barry Bonds. It takes a lot more than roids to make a player that dangerous and that dominant.Wha?!
I LOVED when he was up to the plate!! It's all the other MFers that were scurrred!
I wasn't talking to ewe, bitch. And I say that as lovingly as possible. He was at Zigs last week, so he's familiar
with a runner on in the 9th?
This isn't a thread to count down the best hitters who've played since you started watching baseball, that's been done. I'm wondering, since you've started watching, who's one guy who has come to the plate in the past and hurt your team late, and who you never wanted to see again in the same situation?
Because of the nature of the question, it will almost always be a guy who played a significant part of his career in your team's division, or at least league. For example, Mike Trout has been the best hitter in baseball since 2012, but I wouldn't even consider picking him, since he's probably played ~6 games against the Phillies (though he did hit a homer against us I think this past year- bastard).
So, to conclude, the parameters are
- Ability to perform in the "clutch" (the dreaded c-word!)
- Has hurt your team a lot before
- His team plays a lot against your team

Gunnar Buhner?Buhner's son is currently in the Phillies' system. In 56 PA last year in the Gulf Coast League, Gunnar Buhner hit .122/.232/.163
Gunnar Buhner?
God his dad was a weird dude
At least he's not that other Yankee from the era with a buzz cut who was a huge Bible-thumper and then it turned out that he likes to finger 14 year old high school girls as part of his job as a "masseuse."Gunnar Buhner?

I think he now goes by Inmate 07324-052LOL
Was that Chad Curtis?
The Phillies are the opposite. Our pitchers will suck against good hitters, and do well against bad ones. But our lineup over the years has been liable to make Oliver Perez look like Tom Glavine for 8 innings.Embarrassingly, as a Met fan this list is not only long, but most of the guys on it are otherwise worthless scrubs when not facing Mets pitching.
But the poster boy was Pat Burrell
