I cannot believe we didn't bring this shit up yesterday. How the fuck does Shero keep getting the shaft of not going into the hockey Hall of Fame? Seriously? Pat Burns, come on now. What a friggin joke.

Shero is blamed by many for the "goon" mentality that gripped the league in the mid 70's and is still over embraced to a degree. The fact that he was responsible for so many innovations on the ice system wise...and off. He was the first coach to hire and assistant.

Funny thing, Bill Meltzer points out, Fred would be just as happy not to go in. He hated personal awards and was much more comfortable in the shadows.

But if Pat Burns and Roger Nielsen can get the emotional push, why not the Fog? He won two cups with an expansion team. He out coached and beat the Soviet Red Army team. He deserves to be there....

The fact that they drafted tough western boys like Dupont,Saleski,Schultz,etc who knew how to handle themselves puts them at fault?

The Flyers had to get these guys because believe it or not,teams use to take liberties with the Flyers.

I agree with you...Shero took the bits he had and made it a winner. That does not mean that to the outside world he was not seen as the mastermind of the chaos.
