Watching Highlights last night I heard Brendan Shanahan's name more than I ever did when he played.

Looks like he has one in the Duck/Nuck game to sort out too.

Appears so. Wonder how it's gonna work, 'cause he was not going to make the Wings squad. He's talented, most definitely, but he's still very raw...

Guess he'll sit out a few Griffins games...

It looks pretty nasty. Intentional, but split second reactive, motion results in hit to head and clear concussion. Not a good start to Brendan Smith's career.

I'm going to reserve judgement on all this until I see if the trend continues in the regular season. There's gonna be a lot of these hits made by guys who are trying to but won't make the big squad this year. They feel like they need to make a statement.

I would like to hope that most guys with a a couple years under their belt are already taking notice and are smart enough to avoid it. I don't think it will be too far into the season before things start looking better in the headshot dept.
