Disappointed waking up to the Jared Allen to the Bears text messages but I'm moved on. 4 years 32 mil is way too much. Good for Jared, he got his money and is on a solid team as well not some Oakland Raiders type of team.

Let's move on from Allen...

What about Shaun Phillips?

Also 32, a good veteran defensive end. Got 10 sacks last year and 9.5 the year before that. 22 forced fumbles and 7 ints for his career. He would be a good cheap option if he's willing to take a 1 or 2 year contract

Such sentiments are why Phillips might be a good signing. When the Seahawks brought in John Abraham last year for a visit a lot of people were thinking the same thing, yet Abraham ended up having a really nice year for the Cardinals.

Phillips could possibly be had on the cheap side and his experience as a 3-4 OLB could make him a good fit for the LEO. He is obviously not the player he once was, but could be a good replacement for Chris Clemons at a much cheaper price than Jared Allen.

What about Anthony Spencer? He's a risk because he was injured, but he only played one game last year so he has had lots of time to rehab. In 2012 he had 11 or 12 sacks so you know he can be productive if he's healthy. The pluses are that he's only 30 and he should come fairly cheap. I'm not sold on him personally but he's worth looking at probably.

Either could be brought in I guess. If JS and PC deem them worthy so do I. But at this point im happy to see what the young guys can do when given a chance. Mayowa???

He's nowhere near the player that Jared Allen is...but what makes you think that he is washed up? He's coming off two really productive seasons

That's the beauty with having Carrol and Schneider running the team. Bring in anyone you want, young or old. Let them compete for a spot on the team. Show the guys not making the team the way out the door.

Getting 10 sacks, a pair of forced fumbles, an interception, and 5 blocked passes on a team where he was essentially the primary pass rusher for most of the season is pretty good for a guy who is "washed up".

Besides, if he's even on the Seahawks' radar, I don't think we'd be talking about a full-time role complete with a long-term, big money investment here; so even if he did turn out to be washed up, his contract wouldn't likely be detrimental to the team going forward. Schneider isn't likely to do anything at this point to jeopardize his ability to re-sign the guys we've all been talking about him re-signing for a couple of years now, especially now that the Seahawks have a championship and any sense of urgency he might have felt to win one is gone.

Phillips would be a great signing for Seattle. Last year, optimistic 49er fans said the O'Brian Schofield signing was dumb (I didn't). I think Phillips could be a similar acquisition. If Seattle & the Giants have proven anything it's that you can never have too many pass rushers.

Shaun Phillips, Will Smith and Anthony Spencer are the names still out there that intrigue me and could be decent fits. You could probably sign two of them for cheaper then Allen's deal.

I also like Scruggs. He showed some nice flashes in his rookie year. Not to mention since we're so stacked at LB we could utilize Bruce Irvin at DE in our Nascar package. Avril on one end, Mebane and Bennett on the inside and Irvin on the other end. Vroom vroom...them boys are comin to get the qb
