Watched the last 2.5 periods. Explain to me in detail how that goal was "a distinct kicking motion". I do think the calls against the Flyers were pretty weak, but there were some non calls against the Flyers that should have been called too. Believe me, Bettman doesn't have a thing for the Sharks.....otherwise, maybe they'd at least have a Finals appearance. Give me a break man, I'm no Sharks apologist (if anything, I'm overly harsh on them.....I'm not a Joe Thornton fan at all), but blaming the refs over this game is BS.

People are on edge, it was a pretty ridiculous way to lose a game. Washington fans, can you hear me?!

The officiating wasn't spot on, but is that ever the case? The Flyers collapsed in the third. Maybe they thought they had it in the bag, who knows.

For sure Gagne, I agree that the Flyers played a damn fine game and deserved to win. The Sharks got lucky to get 2 points. The Flyers dominated at least 40 minutes of the game, probably 45 - 50 minutes. They also got two BS penalties against them in the 3rd. I'm just saying it's not like the Sharks got the royal treatment either.

Have a good night bud.

While I don't agree with the overturning of the goal I can understand how/why Toronto chose to. The puck went off the toe of McCarthy's skate with his skate in motion towards the goal. Yes, I know he was just trying to stop but when a puck goes off the toe there always appears to be more intent for the kick. I'd be willing to bet had that puck gone off the skate blade instead of his toe the goal would have stood.

Agreed. If the call had been a "no goal" call on the ice, I TOTALLY would have understood the decision. That said, since the call on the ice was a "goal", it should have stood. No matter if you're a Sharks fan or a Flyers fan, there was NOT enough evidence to overturn (toe or not toe) whatever the original call on the ice was.

Let's just keep all this drama out of tomorrow's GNT thread, ok?

Nah, no drama. Buffalo fans don't whine. They're like Sharks fans, they just know that their team will lose when it matters the most :D

On the kicked in goal: the guy's skate was moving towards the net and he was turning his skate to redirect it in. Turning your skate to redirect it is completely legal, but it means you see the puck and make an attempt to play it. Legally. But since his skate was moving in the direction of the net, and he turned his skate, aka intentionally made a play on the puck with his skate while his skate was moving towards the net, a kicking motion can certainly be called.

Turning your skate while standing still = legal.
Turning your skate while the skate is going to the net = kicking motion.

Just my 2 cents on the play.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree here. You can angle your skate before the puck gets to you (hell, Peter Forsberg used to be the KING of doing this). You just can't make a distinct kicking motion. Since the call on the ice was a goal, I think it should have remained a goal. If it had been a non-goal call on the ice, it should have remained a non-goal. Precedence in this case meant everything.....in my humble opinion.

lol... I dont know how you guys lost that. I stopped watching after the second. Defensive meltdown in the Flyers end? Or did the Sharks rightfully earn the W?
