I like to see multiple view points - positive and negative.

Williamson actually has a pretty good rep as a former scout and analyst. That said, you certainly don't have to agree with his opinion.

But his opinion doesn't make sense. He even admits that we didn't have a run game but gives no credit to KC. WHAT!! He doesn't know the real reason why we drafted Doctson.

If KC kicks ass this year that will mean the Redskins will at least be in the NFC Championship game. So SM is going to just let him go? NO way. He would be hung by the balls if he did that. We will pay him.

Playing Devils Advocate, supposed Kirk kills it. Next year comes around and he says, pay me like a rock star.

SMGM says nope, we will just tag you.

Where does that leave us if Kirk doesnt sign the tag?? Unless its the exclusive rights tag if Kirk has that kind of year, it would not be a far stretch to see some other team come in and make him an offer we couldnt, or wouldnt match.

And i know some will say well two first round picks would be awesome.

Bottom line is, I can honestly say i dont see a way that this thing works out in our favor. We are either going to have to pay him like a rock star, or start over at QB.

Shark if KC kills it and SM doesn't pay him like Luck then this problem is on SM. When I say kill it I mean 35-38Td's and a NFC championship appearance. The only way SM looks like a genius out of this is if KC totally bombs. Which is very unlikely considering the weapons he has. IMO SM should of tried to negotiate a long term deal in the offseason. I think KC would of came down from 44M guaranteed if a long term deal was offered. What SM did to KC with 24M guaranteed was an insult.

Shark, here is the Oswelier deal: 3/9/2016: Signed a four-year, $72 million contract. The deal contains $37 million guaranteed, including a $12 million signing bonus. 2016: $4 million (+ $5 million roster bonus), 2017: $16 million, 2018: $18 million, 2019: $13 million, 2020: Free Agent

Why wouldn't SM offer KC this??? I believe KC would of signed it.

I dont, and I wouldnt have in his position. Kirk was looking at it from the perspective of... if I perform, the least I get out of this is $4 million guaranteed (this years tag and next years tag). So why leave $7 million on the table. I think if they had goten a deal before Luck, $44 million on a five year deal that came in around $95 would have gotten it done. After the luck deal, I was pretty sure no deal would get done.

b/c it gives KC security if he gets hurt. KC is taking a big risk playing on the tag. Yes he can kill it but if he gets hurt or has a bad year he screws himself. He would have left 17M on the table if he does bad this year. 37-20. right? Players hate playing on the tag b/c it offers no security. Why would KC not sign the Osweiler deal? Gives him security and 17M more if he plays bad or gets hurt.

Cousins will have a $50-70 million dollar insurance policy against career ending injury if he doesnt already. For him to get LESS than $10 million as a backup next year.. he would have to completely tank this season. Hell the Browns gave there backup $6.75 million guaranteed on a two year deal and he hasnt taken a snap in over a year.

Not my point. KC has more security if he signed the Oswelier deal. I know it was never offered to him. Sm low balled the shit out of him this offseason.

I get ytour point. I simply dont think he would have signed that deal either. Cousins had all the leverage, the only card the Skins had in their hand was the tag. They tried the whole lets hold onto Griffin as long as we can, and Cousins agent called their bluff. They tried lowballing him or they would tag him. Kirk has $20 million guaranteed this year. God forbid he has an accident that precludes him from ever taking another snap, he likely has an insurance policy against that.

The only way Kirk loses from this juncture is if he tanks this season.

If I'm Kirk, being franchised is not a bad thing. First season franchised, set for life. Second season franchised, and his grand/great children would be...after 2 seasons...you go Kirk!

and to think, this time last year most organizations/fans of the hoop thought Kirk couldn't even garner a 3rd-4th round pick for his services...he would never say it in public, but behind close doors and surrounded by friends...i bet, he says "FUCK THE HATERS, YOU LIKE THAT!"

Only if he blows out his shoulder during the season, and some organizations think he won't be the same. KC is in uncharted waters here.

I meant talent wise not FA wise but I see how you took it the other way. Have head people call him the next Drew Brees

I think because he's the only other QB to be franchised...KC is not the next Drew Brees

if the Redskins signed Drew Brees as a FA back in 06' I don't know if we would have won another Super Bowl. But, I would bet the house we would have won a few more NFCE Championships, and at least an appearance in a NFC Championship game or two.

If you understand the rationale why would you assume fans who also have that rationale are rooting for him to fail?
I dont. That rationale has nothing to do with those few fans that I believe want to see KC fail.

My b. I'll ask this then. What makes you think posters on this board are rooting for him to fail?

OH oh oh... can I play???

When posters constantly point out that he is more like Nick Foles, pointed out that he might have gotten his chance to start last year more because of race than ability. And insist that paying him market value for a starting QB would likely have been an over pay...... Well some people might think one was quietly rooting for him to fail. :suds:

I'm pretty sure the only one of those things I said was the one about paying him and that has nothing to do with Kirk as much as it does with my philosophy on QBs. So I'm glad you see I'm rooting for kirk to succeed now. :suds:
