Its arguable if Lebron is better than Kobe at all ( I would still give a slight edge to Kobe probably because the killer instinct aspect. Something Lebron has always LACKED) . Much less a late 30s Lebron against an early 20s Kobe. Kobe has 5 rings with less help overall than Lebron has had since 2010. Lebron only has 3 rings and basically LUCKED OUT on 2 of them (Sorry thats the truth whether LeBoyToys like it or not) despite more help over a span of a decade. Kobe was a better defender and a better scorer and offensive arsenal than Lebron (even If he was less efficient at it) theres NO DEBATING Kobe is more skilled on the offensive than Lebron. None.

Kobe was the closest player to MJ in terms of his ability on the court. Lebron is a subpar version of Magic

Lebron is actually more clutch than Kobe. That is a fact but still really nothing to do with this.

This has more to do with age than anything. Kobe was paired with Shaq at best possible time, if it continued they could have possibly won 5-6--maybe more. Kobe was early in his prime-entering it and Shaq was right dead in his prime. AD is probably in his prime now and Lebron is past his prime, doesn't have quite the legs to go 82 and be dominant in playoffs like he could back in the day. Plus those Laker teams possibly had the greatest coach ever with nice role players and shooters to fit their scheme. That's why those teams were so dominant. Really hard to compare when: Lebron is 35, decent head coach but no Phil, role players are average at best and a lot of aging guys...Kobe and Shaq BOTH in their primes. A whole lot of differences. Even if Lebron and AD went back to back, Lebron would be 37 years old going for a 3 peat...kinda crazy.

Kobe being older in the Olympics and already being in his prime while winning championships has nothing to do with the subject.

You forgot about Kareem and Magic. They were facing those Bird-Celtic teams in the Finals while the Lakers were facing AI-Sixers, Kidd-Nets, Reggie-Pacers...the difference is night and day.

Now the Lakers did have stiff West competition at the time like the Blazers and those Kings teams were so dangerous but the Spurs weren't the Spurs quite yet - Robinson was past his prime, Duncan was still very young...no Manu or Parker yet. When they got those other HOF's they ended the Lakers dynasty....well then the Shaq and Kobe feud ultimately did.
