...but Rex keeps his job. What a strange world the NFL can be. If the Browns sign McDaniels the Pats should think about replacing him with Shanahan.
Is there McDaniels talk again?
Is there McDaniels talk again?
Yup...I hope they sign him and trade for Mallett.
Fuck no. Shanahan is a terrible coach and the only way I want him near New England is coaching against us.
Rex is a very good coach. He had similar talent to work with and was far more successful than shanahan. I wanted him fired because if he didn't get another HC job he's a great DC upgrade, and worst case he's out of the division so we're less likely to face him.
Meaning they would get Josh and Ryan and we would get a draft pick from them? I assume you want to take a QB in this draft?
I think Shanahan would be a good OC considering Belichick has had high praise for him and Brady will still be there. The Browns have inquired about the Broncos OC so it could be a moot point.
If Mallett leaves they'd have to do something. If they drafted a QB he'd be a backup until Brady decides to retire but it's anyone's guess when that would be. Mallett will be free in 2015 so they effectively have one year to trade him while he's under contract.
I was thinking BB would let them sign Josh and then work out a trade for Mallett.
I turn down a second without considering it.
Then keep him. He has more value as a backup with the potential to keep us in contention in the scenario of Brady getting knocked out for a couple weeks than a second rounder does.
You would be hard pressed to find an opponent belichick says is bad.
Shanahan is a poor coach and a mediocre offensive mind.
Deal is we would have zero leverage with him next year, and he will leave, so potentially we get nothing. This is a QB rich class the Browns could just draft a QB, again.
Irrelevant. That year is worth more than a second round pick.

I can't see them tagging him or re-signing him with Brady still playing so it's trade him next year or nothing. Unless he's just not worth a big pay raise in the eyes of the other teams, then you might be able to sign him to a reasonable deal as your backup.
