Based on prior play I'd vote Datsyuk. Just didn't get much of a chance to watch these guys this year.

You as well as apparently a bunch of hockey writers who cast their votes to determine the finalists for various awards, pixie...

I don't watch nearly enough games to comment on this award.... I'd imagine a lot of it is reputation.

I watched a fair amount of all three and I'd give it to Toews.

One of these years I'd like to see this award go back to its roots; a pure defensive specialist get the nod.

A guy doesn't have to put up big points to be the best defensive forward in the league.

I would rather see the Norris go to the defenseman that always plays defense while chipping in some points rather than just the guy that scores the most.

Anyone know where I can find the numbers on takeaways this season?

And Toews wins in giveaways too. I'd say that tips the scale in Toews favor, going by the stats.

Really can't go wrong with any three. As a Hawks fan though, I thought Hossa has been a better defender over Toews in all honesty.

Did you know that Jeff Skinner is only 20 years old?

Uh...Yeah...he was the worst +/_ forward in the league this year.

I know that stat is more on the team than the player but people do focus on it.

He does get overlooked a lot as a defensive player.

My favorite part of having Hoss was the backchecking he provided. Beast.

I love Hossa too.

His nationality (and possibly his position) is probably the only reason he has never been nominated for this award. He was a beast all over the ice in Ottawa when he was there. Maybe the best two-way forward of the last 15 years.

He'd be a good choice just about every year. His back pressure is outstanding. He was Datsyuk-esque before Datsyuk.

I was one of the few Sens fans that originally hated the Hossa for Heatley trade.

When I think about it...honestly, it's sort of a travesty Hossa hasn't been up for this one.

The comments he said after leaving the Penguins in all honesty didn't bother me much because he is one of those players you can't hate. You just love watching him the game for what it is.

I never understood the Hossa hate on any level. Never reneged on any contract and left millions on the table to pursue a Cup.

I just wish John Muckler hadn't screwed him over in Ottawa.

Pavel Datsyuk
Patrice Bergeron
Jonathan Toews

I am obviously partial to Datsyuk but who do you guys think will be the winner and who is the most deserving. Any snubs?

I'm making this comment without knowing the stat comparisons of these 3, so I may be all wet on this one. I love the way Pavel plays; I have from day one. I went to great lengths to see to it that I got his first jersey from Hockey Authentics in Troy. I'm mesmerized by his play like so many fans of the game are, but many times when a couple of players are close in deserving the trophy, the one on the best team wins the award. That's the way the voting generally goes. I'm nearly certain that Toews is going to win it, but if he doesn't, I will be stunned by the "deer in the headlights" look.
