Baylor is a horrible match up for Duke. I don't think most people expect Duke to make it out of the weekend. The committee must love Iowa State also lol.

The thing to remember about vegas odds, especially during the tourney, is they want you to bet. They don't care which way, but just that you'll put your money down.

Committee has decided that until UVA show they can beat MSU in the tourney that they will continue to place them in the same bracket

The #1 seeds will be playing the following teams in the sweet 16 assuming the higher seeds advance:

Cal
Duke
Iowa State
Kentucky

I think outside of Kentucky, there's really not a huge difference between the other 3.

In the final top 25 poll last week, those 4 teams were ranked like this.

#17 Kentucky
#19 Duke
#21 Iowa State
#24 Cal

I dont get the complaints about seeding. After the 1st round, if you don't show up your probably getting beat. If you do play your best and get beat, you weren't winning it all anyway.

Shit if we get that far, it will be the second rematch in the tourney, as have played A&M as well.

At first I was upset about MSU not getting a 1 seed, I said all along I didn't understand it. I was getting ready to write up a post how things like SoS and RPI are good tie breakers, but definitely not the end all be all. How beating Kansas on a neutral court and going undefeated through ooc schedule has to mean something. That even losing the PoY for 4 games and having him take another 4 games to play back into shape they still finished with a better record straight up than the teams they were competing with for a 1 line. Then they won their conference tourney on top of that. And if you throw out those 8 games with no or a sub part Valentine, I think MSU would have been the consensus #1 overall.

But when you really look at the whole bracket, I think the committee took all that into account. Really the only difference between a 1 & 2 is playing a 3 instead of a 4. Not a real difference in the first or second round and if chalk plays, the 1 plays 2 anyway. Some years there is a HUGE difference between 3 & 4 but MSU drew Utah while Virginia gets Iowa State. I think we got the easier draw. Plus the only justification I can see for not putting #1 overall Kansas in the Midwest is to give it to Sparty. But giving them a #1 AND Chicago would seem pretty screwy.

I'll take the #2 and Chicago over a #1 and playing out West as so many predicted.

They couldn't give us a #1 and the Midwest. Especially when it's closer to Kansas than any other region. To give MSU Chicago they had to put us #1 overall (without justification basically, because there is absolutely nothing to support it.) Or #5 overall. #5 looks like bullshit, but they can at least keep a straight face when they give excuses and justifications.
