I say draft a qb and sign someone else. I think Chase Daniel could fit here nicely.

I'm not buying any of the media reports just yet. I know that Ed Werder has a pretty good rep but these kinds of reports are unsubstantiated. Let's all just sit back and see where the Osweiler negotiation goes. I still think the greatest odds are that he remains in Denver.

Sounds like he has one foot out the door already.

The fact that he hasn't signed certainly makes this seem likely. Either he thinks he can get more money, or he really does prefer O'Brien's offense.

Whether it's smart for him to stay or go, it makes sense to at least see what the market is. Obviously, I want every player to covet playing in Denver but if I'm in Brock's shoes, I would feel compelled to test my value as a player. I'm sure it doesn't help our cause when your agent is yelling in your ear all day long about the big bucks. It doesn't mean he wants to leave but millions can speak pretty loudly. I'm not going to be disappointed or pissed at Brock until I see him sign a contract elsewhere. Until then, he's still the target for QB that I hope the Broncos land.

I certainly don't blame him for trying to get the most money that he can. I just hope it's not the Broncos paying out that much money. I haven't seen anything from Brock to make me believe he's anything other than just a guy.

We definitely agree on not wanting the Broncos to overpay him. For me, that's anything north of 14m for 2-3 years. However, I think he has a lot more upside than a lot of our fans do. I was very impressed with him at times, both on and off the field.

I would love to see him stay for sure but as others has to be at the right price. At this point though every rumor being thrown around is just that. We have no clue who is releasing them and why. My guess on the Ed Warder thing was that was a way of Osweiler's side maybe trying to drive up the price a bit showing the Broncos that maybe he isn't as interested as they thought. Now to me though Elway has shown he is not a guy to play contract chicken with. You will lose that battle every time with Elway. I keep thinking DRC as the perfect example. The Broncos offered him a more than fair contract. He just wanted to go see if the market would give him more and not 24 hours later the Broncos offered the exact same contract to Talib who took it. When DRC realized teams were not as high on him as he was on himself he came back saying he wanted the Contract and Elway said "Sorry already moved on."

I could see that possibly happening here in this situation of Osweiler wanting to test the market and Elway just not wanting to wait around as he has things to do and a team to build. Really to me Manning was the only guy I have seen Elway wait to see if he would sign with the team but that was a guy worth gambling on.

That was a "Golden Ticket" Elway was waiting on though. You nearly always want to wait those out.

Right which to me Osweiler is nowhere near that guy that we absolutely have to keep if we stand any chance of success from here on out. Some on the general board are suggesting the Broncos should do whatever it takes to keep Osweiler because we stand no chance without him. Not sure what games they were watching but I didn't see that All-Star for sure in the making. I saw a guy with some potential that I like but am not over the moon in love with. Again I want Osweiler back but I also understand that signing an average QB to a big contract is a quick way to get stuck in mediocrity as a team.

What do YOU think about his ability to read through progressions? Will that develop or is he a one-read QB?

I think he will get better at it but I'm skeptical how much better. There are things I love about Osweiler and things that just scare the heck out of me...

Things I like
1) Seems to have the respect of his teammates and coaches
2) He actually does have a nice arm. I loved watching some of his throws
3) The big moments in the game don't seem too big
4) Handled this entire season with some of the best class I have seen

Things I don't like
1) It does seem if his first option is not open he panics and unfortunately takes a ton of hits because of it
2) Lack of touch on some of his throws
3) Can get flustered when things are not quite going right
4) Not quite the runner you would like...His size makes him clumsy in my opinion leading to some awkward moments
5) Pocket presence seems to not be there
6) Accuracy can come and go

Now some of that is fixable and some of that will get better with more actual game experience. I think he is the type of guy that can be a 10-year starter in this league. I'm just not sure I see a top-10 type QB. I see more of the ranked in the 12-20 area almost every year.

Maybe so on Brock but other than Fritz, I sure like to know who has impressed you more that has any better resume out there. I completely agree that Brocks sample size does not warrant confidence or a big payday but to say any of the other candidates have shown anything at all in their last few years is wrong. The pickings suck, let's face it. At least Brock knows the system, the coaches and the players. It just cracks me up that some think you can throw RG or Kap or Daniel's into a new system,New wrs/ offense/coaches,etc and they would give Denver a better shot than Brock to repeat. Neither one of those guys ( maybe Daniel's ) would even beat Simian out. I'm open to " let's bring them in for a 12 pack though.:)

See but you are viewing this through a Brock vs. whoever. The thought with Brock is that he is reaching a price that means we have to cut talent elsewhere. Let me point it to you in another way...

would you rather have
Brock Osweiler or...

Colin Kaepernick, Malik Jackson, and a 3rd round pick from Osweiler signing a huge deal elsewhere and us getting a Comp Pick.

Because that is what we are talking about here is trying to figure out how best to spend our money to get the best 53 on the field. Is Kapernick +Malik worth more to this team than just Osweiler in terms of wins this next yea?
