I think the appropriate suspension would be 5 games. But he’ll probably get one.

The factors that should make it a 5-gamer include (1) puck nowhere near the play, (2) only possible intent was to injure, and (3) he had to have premeditation with the amount of time he had to NOT slash Draisaitl. He should be out of this series at a minimum.

I don't disagree with McDavid, but I don't think a player should outright be calling for another player to be suspended. You can say it's not a hockey play and intent to injure etc. but I would just say that the Department of Player Safety will review it and we'll see what the outcome is.

So we’re allowed to say the DOPS suck but the guys who actually face the possible injuries on the ice can’t?

I'll be surprised if Petro gets off with just a fine, that was a nasty slash on the guy who could end up winning the Conn Smythe. We all know Parros is terrible at his job, I'm just thinking NHLPA member going after NHLPA member isn't the best approach. Let his coach or GM handle that part of it.
