It's one of my biggest complaints about this team...we are way too impatient at the plate. Yeh, I know I complain alot, but this one is valid!

There's a time where its acceptable. First pitch on a pitcher you've never seen before isn't one of them.

I think they were inpatient knowing Yu has given the early long ball to this team in the past.

What I don't get is how many of you seem think you can measure a persons career based on one seasons stats. This is a career low season for Murph. Clearly he has played much better over the course of his career.

Yes, he's played better. From 2008 - 2011 his line for 1620ABs was .277 .336 .441 .777.

http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/m/murphda07.shtml#2008-2011-sum:batting_standard

He had a career best year in 2012 and career worst season this year ... the two years near cancelling each other out born out by his career numbers being nearly identical to the numbers above ... .277 .339 .444 .783.

All in all ... Murphy is a nice guy, fan favorite ... but effectively a utility outfielder. He's basically the same as Gentry except LH and without the speed, arm or glove but with an occasional pop in his bat. Murphy has gotten the PT while Gentry hasn't.

Will Murphy be back? No chance. Will Gentry be back? Don't know that ... but there is a better chance since Gentry delivers what he's on the roster to do ... but Murphy doesn't any more.

It's a little different when its a pitcher he's never seen before.

I don't necessarily agree with that. He got a pitch pretty much down the pipe, and there's no guarantee he'll get anything easier to hit as the at bat goes on. Rangers are an aggressive swinging team and hit better earlier in the count than later. .373 as a team on first pitch, it's not really relevant who's pitching if they're trying to get cheap first strikes.

Excellent. Now let's close out this subject. You laid it out nicely.

Didn't look down the pipe to me. Looked like it jammed him.

Is that three or four bullets we've smoked right at a defender?
