I don't how many of you listened to the post I put on here last week with Stanton back in April. He avoided answering all questions directly and said a few times he is hands off because that he doesn't know talent like Jerry and the scouts then when asked about the payroll (again this was April) said Jerry knows and it is in his hands. Pretty much passed the buck to Dipoto and of course Dipoto tells his newspaper buddies that its Stanton's call without directly saying it. He says just enough to elude to it. They are like Abbott and Costello.Exactly. Iy also says they won't sign any big players (not super free agents, just good free agents) the rest of the decade. Because it doesn't matter if they sign them now and the contracts run through those years or they sign them in 2024 or 2025 or 2026 and they run through those years. The problem would be the same or worse because contracts only go up. And for those saying stay the trade route, who are we going to have left to trade? Plus you need those guys to balance the other contracts. So Mariners are just punting the rest of this decade. Enjoy it.
