Orioles signed INF/OF Adam Frazier to a one-year, $8 million contract.​

Jon Heyman of the New York Post was first with the news. Frazier will look to bounce back in Baltimore after struggling to a .238/.301/.311 batting line over 156 games (602 plate appearances) this past season with the Mariners. The 31-year-old batted .305/.368/.411 in 155 games between the Pirates and Padres in 2021. He's played some corner outfield in recent years, along with his primary position of second base, and will probably fill a sort of left-handed-hitting super-utility role for the O's in 2023.

This is the corresponding roster move for Masataka Yoshida, whose five-year, $90 million contract with the Red Sox became official on Thursday afternoon. Downs ranked as a consensus top-100 prospect just a few years ago, and was a headlining piece in the Mookie Betts trade, but he posted a rough .154/.171/.256 batting line across his first 41 major league plate appearances in 2022. And he's a career .193/.292/.368 hitter in 740 plate appearances at the Triple-A level. The 24-year-old could be a worthwhile project for a new organization, assuming there's interest out there on the waiver wire.
