If Gilbert is any where in the ERA zone of 3.10 to 3.65 I will take it. He will be a horse this year and I think gets closer to 200 innings pitched than any starter in our rotation. They are still going to watch Kirby semi closely and I doubt he throws more than 150 ip. If he is closer to 3.2 ERA than he is to 4.0 that's a decent season. I see his middle ground number around just under 4 likely 3.85 to 3.95 ERA. His low bb rate will help him immensely in that dept if his walk rate is as low as last season he can flirt with low 3's for ERA.I was thinking this is now the bar for Gilbert and Kirby.
Ya some pitchers just don't get the offense that other teammates get. So weird how that works.
You're what there?Thanks .but..I'm kiked..there..I'm done..anyway...
I'm not very optimistic with Evan White but I agree it would be huge if he shows enough to warrant a starting spot in the lineup. It would kill two birds with one stone as that would allow us to have a full time DH with Ty France.Ya we are definitely not devoid of talent in the minors. It just happens to be at lower levels at this time with a few exceptions like Miller and Woo. Luckily our MLB team is deep and won't need reinforcements if something goes wrong...
Would love to see Evan White show up strong this year. It is a long shot, but it would be huge for us if it happened. We may forget, but the kid had serious power when he connected and replacing France at 1B would be a big win.
I completely agree.I think this came out before he signed. Everywhere I’ve read is he is now the number 2 guy in the system and there isn’t the risk of him growing out of SS. I get how nationally the Mariners farm system has taken a hit but not this far of a drop.
The Bryce Miller jump makes me feel the Mariners have a crap load of guys who if they have a good season in the minors this year they can sneak into the top 100 or at least high enough in the top 200 that you can package them into a good trade. Maybe not the big Castillo type deal. I don’t know, this is all guessing game type stuff anyways but it just weird them being 2nd to last.
Absolute bargain for the Astros. It's odd that he had a stellar 2.5 or so ERA and played for the Astros ( won 100 games again )
Yet Javier win-loss record was close to .500 I think 11 wins 9 losses with 150 or so innings pitched.
You would have thought he would have been 15-5 or better. A 2.50 ERA is extremely good in todays game where everyone swings for HR's
$12mil a year will look like the bargain of the century 3-4 years from now. Hell it's a steal right now current market.
I will just put this out there, if that is their lineup for 2026 then I definitely will be complaining a lot on this board. That means zero trades and no way should Geno or JP be starters for a World Series team unless all of the other guys become studs. To me, JP is in the Marco category of where he is great for the current team but if the Mariners are in a clutch moment on offense and he is coming up they need to PH. A late game defensive replacement fine, but not a star. If that is there lineup then they have a crap load of capital to spend to upgrade the team where Ray, JP nor Geno are the guys.I completely agree.
Only somewhat related but I googled "Mariners top prospects" and found the Baseball America article on their system.

I thought it was really interesting that their projected 2026 lineup has Harry Ford at third. I've read about catcher possibly not being a long-term fit but third is interesting. If he can throw like a catcher he'd definitely have the arm for third base.
I was going to make that point but my old brain couldn't remember which Mariner was the unlucky one. Felix.I think we should know from the Felix Hernandez experience that a stellar ERA doesn't guarantee a good W/L record.
This would be awesome. I am keeping positive...until they give me reason not to.I will say perhaps this is hyperbole, but in his 84 games with the Mariners I don't think I've ever seen a better defensive first baseman. If he and Kelenic were able to hit at even just an average level, "massive" would be an understatement as to how big that would be for us.
