From closer to minor leaguer: the Mariners Tom Wilhelmsen to Triple-A Tacoma last night.
Wilhelmsen had a meltdown against the Red Sox last Thursday, helping Boston plate six runs in the ninth inning. That was that for him with the M’s, it seems, as he had not made it into a game since. On the year he has an 4.37 ERA and 35/26 K/BB ratio over 47 1/3 innings with 24 saves.
Don't want to start a different thread, and there just doesn't seem to be anywhere else to put this so,I'll put it here.
The A's traded Brett Anderson to the Rockies. The reason I am posting this is that Anderson has been a thorn in the Mariners side for years now. He has a 1.81 ERA in 14 starts against Seattle. He's only been average against everyone else throughout his career. So, this move actually benefits the Mariners (though he had lost his rotation spot last year so it may have been moot anyway).
