Dude, its Florida. Guy is being charged with Man Slaughter or likely a higher charge, but in the end our incompetent states attorney will fail to prove his case and the guy will plead out to aggravated assault with a gun and do ten years, of which half will be knocked off for time served.

For Murder in Florida they have to prove intent. No way the states attorney can prove the intent was to kill Taylor. They might swing for it, but best they will get is homicide. But under Floridas 10-20-life, its a minimum 20 years for killing some one with a gun. The real question becomes, are they competent enough to get even that. After the Casey Anthony and George Zimmerman cases, I seriously have my doubts about the Florida "Justice" system.

gotcha, thanks for the info. Yeah, no telling how a trial will go anymore but this one seems pretty open and shut. No missing body or hearsay...broke into house and someone died of a gunshot wound.

Hope the DA doesn't screw it up and this guy gets the key thrown away.

Jury Selected in Sean Taylor Murder Trial « CBS DC


Of the 5 guys involved, 23 yr old Eric Rivera jr, is facing trial first, for first degree murder. Opening statements begin this upcoming Monday. Because he was 17 at the time of the slaying, he faces life in prison, if convicted.

One of the guys pleaded guilty to 2nd degree murder and burglary charges and the others will go to trial later.
