Hmm pretty sure most of America saw it a different way. If Lynch doesn't fumble inside Falcons 20-30 yard territory, the defense doesn't choke on the last series, and Clemons (the top pass rusher by far on Seattle) is healthy when basically everyone on the Falcons was, Seattle clearly annihilates Atlanta on the road playing one extra game.

Dunno what you were watching, but Seattle started a little slow but very equally matched Atlanta. Both teams with 2 turnovers, Seattle put up nearly 500 yards, Altanta surrendered no sacks but that was against a team without their best pass rusher who went out the prior week, Atlanta had a week of rest, and Sherman aside from one TD stonewalled White.

Atlanta is just not that great of a team. Matt Ryan has proven he is capable of making some very good plays on the final drives of games, but has not proven he can take over any sort of demanding mental game early on. He lets teams back in games. In the second half aside from the last drive Ryan just went comatose and allowed Seattle to charge right back in. He was the WHOLE reason Seattle basically won the game. So what, he made a couple nice throws to the best WR core in NFL history the last few minutes. He still allowed Seattle to get everything going.

lol at all of this

Who has the better team, the better QB and the better all around talent?

I've seen SF by a wide margin by one poster...no.

Overall I would also say SF...OL/RB/TE/LB/DL...all of those positions they would rank in the top 5 in the NFL or higher imo.

It is very possible that the 49ers, Falcons and Seahawks are the 2nd, 3rd and 4th best teams in the NFL, respectively.

I see the Falcons every week.

Not that great...Agree. ATL is a very good team, but they have too many holes to be a great team imo. They are well above average in the passing game, they are well coached meaning they don't make a lot of mental mistakes, and that allows them to beat the teams with lessor talent more often than not. If you have watched them much under coach Smith...they rarely lose to bad football teams.

Ryan...I think you're 100% wrong on the mental angle. In fact I would put that part of his game up there with P Manning. What Ryan is not is a great athlete...he doesn't have a cannon arm, doesn't run fast, etc. So...what that means is his feet need to be set for him to throw accurately down field. If the pocket is collasping, he gets pushed off his spot, the play breaks down...unless his check down is open, Ryan is most likely going to get rid of the ball and live for another play, or punt it...he's not an extend the play type of QB.

Let them back in the game...you're 100% right, they did it in both playoff games. But...imo the culprit is the OC, and or the HC. Early second half in the SEA & SF games Koetter (OC) tried to take the air out of the ball too soon with Turner. That led to a couple of 3 & outs, or 1 or 2 1st down drives and punts, and the mo switched sides.

Overall talent - SF

Best QB/WR - ATL

I will say, I'm not sold on 1st yr starting QBs in year 2 as the starter...Both Kaep & RW are very good talents...I still need to see how they perform when DCs know a little more about their games.

1. you said the 49ers were the best team by a MILE
2. The seahawks beat the hell out of the 49ers last time they played
3. this makes you wrong

Just out of curiosity:

The bills beat the seahawks last year, does that make them better?

The seahawks beat the pats in seattle. I won't try to argue the pats are a better team (although I won't say that they are not either) but I remember it took a real breakdown by the pats secondary to let the hawks back into that game in the 4th quarter and I also remember the pats putting up a ton of yards on that vaunted defense. Now the pats also did that to the 49rs, but the fact that it was in foxboro, that the pats hadn't lost a home game in december in about 10 years and that the 49rs were sitting on a huge lead before the pats came back makes it a little different.

Seahawks look to be a good young talented team, but they are going to have to do more than get hot one year to prove they are more than that. You ask most people outside of the seattle fan base which team you don't want to see more, especially if the game is not in the opponents stadium, the answer won't be seattle.

Better team- Seattle
Better QB- ATL
Better All Around Talent- Niners

Although if Harvin comes back healthy, Id be tempted to put Seattle in the Best All Around Talent category. If Atlanta didn't have potential secondary and potential oline issues, they'd be in the running there, too.

Since when does losing 50-17 mean the Bills beat the Seahawks?

Your right I got that wrong, I meant to say the dolphins and I couldn't edit it after I realized it.

Ok, the dolphins, does that make the point any different?

I think he/she meant the Dolphins game where they lost. Or they could have meant the Lions as that is a pretty embarrassing loss. Either way trying to say because one team beat another that they all of a sudden should be considered better is a very stupid argument to try and make considering any team can beat any other on any given Sunday. Heck the Chiefs beat the Packers during their great season but I don't think you will find a single person that would have said the Chiefs were actually better than the Packers.

Also wouldn't this mean that the Falcons should be ranked ahead of the Seahawks since they beat them in the playoffs?

I agree wholeheartedly.

BTW I am a "he" or at least the last time my wife checked. You are going to have to take my word that she would be willing to confirm that.

Haha I believe yah...no reason to get the wife involved. I just always feel bad on these boards for the few ladies that like to participate as this place is a sausage fest most of the time. Always like to make them feel welcome.

I know right? It's just pretty funny when someone just nails a post and shuts down arguments in this forum. I laugh at that too. It's amusing for sure =)

Agree with everything you said and appreciate the 'correction' if you will on some of my views of how the game panned out.

I still do not see Ryan as an elite QB talent and undoubtedly never will, not that you ever said that (just making a general comment). He's above average and I see him staying that way.

Talent
Same as team

These posts kill me. The Falcons defense is VASTLY inferior to Seattle and San Fran talent wise. Seattle and San Fran's O-Lines are better. I don't get how 4 of 22 starters ranked better than Seattle/San Frans teams somehow make Atlanta #2... someone please explain to me.

SS: Seattle
FS: Seattle
CB #1/2: Seattle
OLB: San 7Fran
MLB: San Fran
MLB 2: San Fran
OLB: San Fran
DT: Seattle
DT: ?
DE: San Fran
DE: Seattle
OT: Seattle
OT: San Fran
OG: San Fran
OG: Atlanta
C: Seattle/San Fran
WR: Atlanta
WR: Atlanta
TE: Close but Atlanta for now.
RB: Seattle/San Fran
FB: Whatever
QB: Let's just say Atlanta

San Fran: 8/9
Seattle: 8/9
Atlanta: 4

Seattle and San Fran are eons above Atlanta. If a WR like Harvin goes down for Seattle, whatever. If Crabtree goes down for San Fran whatever. If Jones goes down for Atlanta LOL GG, incoming 8-8 team at best.

Atlanta basically got rocked twice at home. San Fran punked them and Seattle basically did with nearly 500 yards of offense and their #1 pass rusher out. Seattle has improved this offseason, San Fran is still able to punk Atlanta.

Put Atlanta IN Seattle. Incoming 42-21 blowout. Put Atlanta IN San Fran. Incoming 42-21 blowout. Both San Fran and Seattle proved they could hang on the road, long flight, vastly different timezone with the overrated Falcons.

I can't wait to watch Atlanta go 9-7 this year as New Orleans re-claims the throne. Going to be a lot of butt hurt fans.

Atlanta does not scare me at all. The offense is nowhere near as prolific as New Orleans with HC Peyton back and the defense for Atlanta blows monkey ****. There is not a single player on that D that scares me and they by far lost their best player in Witherspoon.

Incoming Saints #2 without the offense = Atlanta. Mark my words, 9-7 at best. Possibly 8-8 with the hungry NFC South. I could see the Bucs OR Panthers edging them.

And speaking for San Fran and Seattle, I would not take ANY of the defensive players of Atlanta over Seattle/San Fran. Seattle San Fran are #1/2 in EVERY position, Atlanta a distant 3rd at most.

4/22 on offense is not > 18/22 at every other position split across Seattle/San Fran. Just loony talk.

If I remember correctly, the Falcons eliminated the shehawks in last years playoffs..the score was close but the game looked very lopsided in the falcons favor.

Early on for sure. But the 2nd half was equally lopsided in favor of the Seahawks. Remember Seattle had the lead with 30 seconds left in the game. I still haven't forgiven the Hawks D for that one. Not only for giving up a long drive with 30 damn seconds left, but for laying a giant egg in the first half.

As to the OP, my feeling is that the Seahawks will prove this season that they are the best of the three, however I must admit that I am very biased. All three teams are very good. Should be a fun year.

Also Vegas believes the Hawks and 49ers are better than the Falcons. They are in this to make money, not play fan favorites.

That says a lot. San Fran/Seattle are roughly 2x better than Atlanta according to odds, which ties PERFECTLY with my 8/9 Seattle San Fran ratio vs. the 4 best players Atlanta ratio.
