He is frigging awesome. But he's a LB. Zeke is great, but if Dallas gave him $18M I'd flip out because he is a RB.

He's the Seahawks' best player and the heart and soul of the team. I didn't see how much guaranteed he got but for only a 3 year deal it really doesn't matter. They're trying to win now with their franchise qb, have to give them credit.

I might dislike the Seahawks more than any team in the league, but you have to give credit where credit is due. Any number of teams would have given him that contract if he was a free agent.

Wagner can thank the New York Failures for giving CJ Mosley that ridiculous contract. Fortunately this is only 3 years... Outside of Wagner/Wilson Seattle is fielding a pretty cheap team. I would argue Wagner is more important than Thomas was and is currently the best ILB (only slightly over Keuchley) in the league, so it's money well spent, especially for the duration.

@jarntt True, but we knew it was gonna happen after the Mosley signing since Wagner is the best ILB non pass rushing linebacker in the league. His coverage skills are also nearly unmatched (Seattle sends the guy 30 yards down field and he keeps up). Jaylon Smith (if he continues to progress and stays healthy this year) will probably be on the $15-17M radar next year for your Cowboys (if not more)... otherwise some other team will pay him.

The 40M+ in guaranteed is fucking ridiculous though. This fucker better not 'hold out' in year 3 of the contract. Gotta give this a B- grade. Is Wags the best ILB in the NFL? Yes. Could Seattle afford to let him walk and be competitive? No. That said, I can't give this anywhere near the A range with that amount of guaranteed and overall contract value. It's not a bargain bid at all. New York Jets basically fucked over the Seahawks this offseason.

Wagner is a great LB but it's a lot of money for a LB. I wouldn't question Wagner being worth more than 3 years at franchise tag money. I guess my issue is the LB tag value being based on pass-rushing DEs playing OLB.

For reference Spotrac's estimated value of Wagner was $14.2M.
