God if the offense catches fire and blows out SDSU then folks is gonna be calling for a QB change. Never mind it is against a FCS school, the "experts" will be a houndin' it.

Was listening to an interview with the SDSU HC on 1110 last night.

He said the SDSU folks see this game as "Their Super Bowl".

I wonder if they'd say the same if it was just Wyoming?

I think Martinez is a gamer and gave his all to Nebraska but honestly there should of been a qb change a long time ago regardless of whether the offense catches fire or not. He took us as far as he could. Now he just implodes.

There was really nobody to replace him the last two years was there?

Pelini went 'All-In' on Martinez in 2010.

I could see a QB controversy coming out of this game and it would be the result of 2 things.
1. TA makes some throws that T-mart can't. Hit's guys in stride down field, etc
2. has really good pocket awareness. knows when to bail and when to stay in. something t-mart has never been good at.

I don't know if he gets the chance to show either of these against SDSU, but you never know.

I like tmart but when good or fast defense come around he gets exposed fast

There are certain things you can't with tmart
-can't make all the throws
-can't read defense very well
-not a running qb
-turnover machine in big games
Bo went all in and made it tmart or bust. I like tmart but I can see why the west coast didn't want him at qb

We shall see that turf toe won't heal up in a week

If Tommy A starts and NU rolls SDSU, do we have a QB controversy a la 1992 Tommie Frazier?

Face it, Nebraska has too many skill position weapons for the offense to sputter like it has. The problems are either the trigger man (Taylor) or the O-Line. I think Beck's getting too much blame due to Taylor's limitations mentally and also his physical limitations in being a 'complete' QB.
-------
I'm not so sure it's even TM. I've never seen the OL be consistant over the last 2-3 years. Some days we can run for 5000 yards others we pass an equal amount but it's been rare when both parts of that offense is in sync for a whole game.

Now insofar as what the score is, if we don't win by three touchdowns, our defense is going to provide us with a very looooong season.

It's gotta be hard for the O-Line to adjust in a scheme that has no identity. I think they would make a fine run blocking line that could pass block on occasion when needed. But they run block for 4-5 plays, then have to switch mentality and pass block for a series or two. Never developing a rhythm. It's gotta suck. Let them big ol' fatties fire off the ball and knock snot bubbles out of the defense for an extended period and I'll bet they would own most anyone.

I've no objection with this. But in this day and age, just "passing on occasion" makes me a little nervous. We did that with Frazier and had great success simply because no team thought "pass" was in Nebraskas vocabuolary. During the crouch years? Not that much success. It seemed that Franks only plays were up the middle (major exaggeration) yet because more of the ooposition was able to stop/slow down the running game during the Crouch era, sometimes we were forced to pass and it was not a pretty sight for the most part.

we know TA can run, what I want to see is how he throws the ball to open up that run game, something we've not had since Ganz
