My guess for the Saints is Tampa or the Lions

Experts are saying the forst 4 games will be the AFC vs NFC as if they cancel games those games will have the least effect on the playoffs

Report: 49ers to first face AFC East, Packers and Saints

So, to summarize, the 49ers' 2020 schedule would look as such (opponents/games listed in no particular order):

Weeks 1-4: Dolphins, Bills, at Patriots, at Jets
Weeks 5-6: Packers, at Saints
Weeks 7-9: NFC West opponents
Weeks 10-13: Eagles, Washington, at Cowboys, at Giants
Weeks 14-16: NFC West opponents

I don't think that's true honestly.

I think the scenario I talked about recently is likely. Week 1 becomes week 5. But I added some more wrinkles.

Weeks 2-5 are games that could be eliminated. Week 1 still happens with its matchups regardless. I also say that each team will play one home and road game against the other conference and one home and road game against the other division in their conference. No division games weeks 2-5 and no same-place matchups. Byes will not start until week 6. There will be one week, where teams with the same bye weeks pair up. That week will also be eliminated if there's a delay.

Why would the NFL want to risk Dallas/Baltimore, KC/NO, KC/TB, NE/Sea, Pit/Dal? Those are big money matchups.

I saw on NBC Sports that it will be released tomorrow night 5/7/2020 at 8:00 pm.

On that same programs they said according to 2019 win-loss records the NE Patriots will have the most difficult 2020 schedule . .536
nfl network has its release tonight at 8 pm:suds:

interesting. that would suck because i like the afc vs nfc match-ups because we only see them play each other every 4 years but i will be happy just to see any football this fall.

My guess is quite simple. The NFL is not quite as worried about big money. The money the NFL gets from the YV networks does not change based on who plays the game. They have contracts with the TV networks for the shole season. It is not based on so much per game where they get more depending on the match up.

The NFL wants to make sure that the Super Bowl the biggest TV event of the year has the 2 best teams in it. To do that they need to make sure teams in each conference have the same ability to qualify with tie breakers and such. Say they had to eliminate the first 4 games for example and then at the end of the season you have 2 teams tied at the top of the NFC with 10-2 records. If one of those teams played their AFC games the last 4 weeks of the year instead of the first four weeks they could lose out on the conference game wins tie breaker as they would only could have 8 compared to the other team who had 12 conference games

They stated in an article that it’s a possibility all nfc teams will play the afc division they are slated to play first just incase the season needs shortened, those games would be the ones lost.

That actually makes a lot of sense. Save the division games until the end just in case.

Agree, if they play great but if the don’t it really doesn’t hurt anybody.

It don't matter to me how the schedule is planned out, the games have to be played no matter who your going up against on any given week. So, tonight is the night we find out who meets who and when. Im guessing the Chiefs will be the first Thursday night game, and maybe the Buccaneers on the first Monday night game.
