Pretty funny stuff! A guy suggests a "what if" and everybody attacks.
Like the thought of it being "partying weather in New Jersey?"
Think a blizzard is going to change the favorites?
This was designed for conversation. How could you criticize?

True - just trying to start some conversation related to NFL stuff. Good catch :)

That first paragraph is pretty fuzzy, dude. Where'd you read this article where "Someone predicted that there could be a huge snow blizzard or something on game day" 6 weeks from now ? Obviously anything is possible. But they hold a pretty good outdoor party in NYC every New Years that draws a hell of a lot more people than any Super Bowl. It's usually pretty cold, too.

What's fuzzy about it? It was reported on one of the NFL sites, can't remember which one. There is no stopping SB parties, was referring to people who booked rooms, etc. to go there and watch the game live. It would be really bad marketing if they changed the date of game. Bunch of friends booked flights & rooms in Las Vegas months ago to watch the game there amongst the rowdy betting crowds. It would be disappointing to have the date changed. Bottom line is there in no reason to move it, even if it's the worst snow blizzard in history.

If you think this thread is filled with "attacks" against the OP, then you truly are are a thin skinned little pansy. Show me an attacking post here.

You can't, and nobody is saying that they could.

They're saying that IF it turns out, say, a week before the game that the forecast is going to be really bad, there are plans in place for moving the time.

This is the part I don't understand. Do special rules apply to the SB is the question. The game is going to be played there and NFL games are not moved because of nasty weather.

IMO Bowl games need to be played in warm weather cities. Who wants to take a Vaca to NYC the first week of Feb?

I agree that the actual game could be played anywhere, any time, but it's everything that surrounds the SB that needs to be factored in. Even if this years SB was in a dome, it would suck because for me, I'd like to be sitting on a beach someplace looking at the "scenery" and enjoying a cocktail before and after the game, not walking in Times Square looking at chicks in parkas.

You raise a good point regarding the chicks in parkas. Bikinis are far better. But this goes back to catering to the fans instead of the game, which is not a bad proposition. After all, if there were no fans, the NFL would not be what it is.

In extreme circumstances they can be. I don't believe they ever should be, though.

Lightning? hail? A hurricane? Play through it.

The only reason to delay a game is if a team (or essential league personnel) is incapable of getting to the stadium on time.

If you're really a fan of football, you want the game to be the focus. That doesn't mean you'll turn down scantily clad females, but that that is a shitty way to determine where to host the game. Every outdoor stadium with capable infrastructure should be given equal opportunity.

Well they knew this coming in, and still put it outside. Sucks for the two teams who will play in it. Glad it's not my team and having to spend thousands of dollars to go to it since it's only a 45 minute drive from me.

IMO, I didn't read any attacks. Post was meant to get some opinions and conversation going. I think that is what southie was referring to.

I believe electrical storm is the only type of weather where a game could be postponed.

Of course the game is priority, but you can never get enough of those scantily dressed chickadees. I wonder what the cheerleaders will be wearing ... parkas over a mini skirt? Really hope they don't come out in sweat pants.

No, but I have never watched a halftime show and don't plan on starting. They all blow.

some of the most memorable games in NFL history were memorable because of the conditions they were played in. I'd like to see that possibility remain. This shouldn't be about throwing corporate parties outside or how is the halftime show going to go on, it should be about the game and the game is played in the elements, whatever they may be. People will still go and people will still watch and NFL will continue to be popular.

How would you know they blow if you've never watched one?

Because the performers they select are jokes? Every single time?

I have seen far more than I would like just by walking through the room and never once has there been anything remotely appealing.

Agree, football is designed to be played within the elements of nature, whatever it throws at us. Is sweltering heat better than mountains of snow or wind-chill factors way below freezing temp? Fans are gonna watch it anyway.
