I read an article the other day that warned the SB could be moved to another date because of the weather. Someone predicted that there could be a huge snow blizzard or something on game day. This is disturbing for a number of reasons:

1) How the hell can you predict weather 6 weeks ahead?

2) Supposedly, the only reason a football game could be canceled or moved to another date would be because of an electrical storm, which would not be the case.

3) Is this about fans freezing their butts off in the stands?

4) What would the half-time show be?

5) What happens to all the booked hotel rooms at double or triple the price, even in otherwise cheap hotels in New Jersey area? Forget about NYC, they are setting up a bunch of shit in Hoboken, what happens if all that shit is blown away by a mean blizzard.

6) Is this an issue that warm-weather-NFL lobbyists are putting on the table to confuse everyone?

etc...

That first paragraph is pretty fuzzy, dude. Where'd you read this article where "Someone predicted that there could be a huge snow blizzard or something on game day" 6 weeks from now ? Obviously anything is possible. But they hold a pretty good outdoor party in NYC every New Years that draws a hell of a lot more people than any Super Bowl. It's usually pretty cold, too.

You can't, and nobody is saying that they could.

They're saying that IF it turns out, say, a week before the game that the forecast is going to be really bad, there are plans in place for moving the time.

Pretty funny stuff! A guy suggests a "what if" and everybody attacks.
Like the thought of it being "partying weather in New Jersey?"
Think a blizzard is going to change the favorites?
This was designed for conversation. How could you criticize?

If you look at the Farmers Almanac it is actually usually pretty accurate even a year out kind of thing and right now it is predicting right around the Super Bowl for the East Coast to get hit by a big storm. Now that doesn't mean it will happen but the NFL has put in some precautions ahead of time in case a huge storm were to come in so they don't have a game like the Eagles-Lions game a couple of weeks back.

Now as to what this does for hotel reservations and all of that who knows...This is why the NFL having the Super Bowl in a place that this could happen is taking a huge risk for some major fall out. If they were to move the Super Bowl to say Saturday or Monday my guess is the NFL would have a bunch of law suits on their hands and most likely would never try this again at least for 10 years.

I don't want weather determining a winner. I want the teams to decide. I don't want a whoeverwithstood the elements SB champ.

Weather is football. Domes should be illegal.

Football is made to be played outdoors.......To hell with the fridly confines of warm air.

I know this may sound dumb, but i always thought the team with the no.1 seed thru the whole playoffs should be hosting the game, not somewhere else.

I know they always have the NFL experience and all that needs set up,but i`ve been to that and its something I could careless of ever seeing again.

The MLB,NBA and the NHL all have the best team hosting game 1 and 7,the NFL needs to follow suit.

agreed football should be played out doors.. regardless of the elements.. football fans will go and see the game.. bring the super bowl back to the fans.. not the suits that can afford to pay the price of the tickets.. its like watching a game in dallas.. always complaing thats cause only the affordable seats are suits that just want to sit there comfy and golf clap through a game and get offened when a fan fro mthe upper seats spills beer ... brink it back to the fans

Does anybody remember the Colts/Bears Super Bowl a few years back? There was a monsoon, unless you play in a dome every year the weather could be a factor. Or when it snowed in Dallas, a warm weather area. If snow happens it happens, no big deal. The odds of getting 3 feet of snow, the type of crippling storm that would really cause a problem probably aren't that high.

I could be wrong, but I'm pretty positive since it's a newer stadium the field should have a heating system, combined with the fact that they every road within 25 miles will have a layer of salt on it and there will be an army of plows ready to go I don't think it will be an issue.

If only we would have considered these things before making this decision.

Oh wait....these things WERE brought up to Roger and he decided to go ahead anyway.

As he should have. Cold weather areas should have the same shot as warm weather areas, and domes should be ignored.

Let it snow, rain or whatever. I'm with you guys, just play the game. The elements are the same for both teams. No unfair advantage. The fans will come regardless. Btw, whenever the topic of greatest games comes up on sports shows, isn't the "ice bowl" mentioned as a classic? Just sayin'

IMO Bowl games need to be played in warm weather cities. Who wants to take a Vaca to NYC the first week of Feb?

I agree that the actual game could be played anywhere, any time, but it's everything that surrounds the SB that needs to be factored in. Even if this years SB was in a dome, it would suck because for me, I'd like to be sitting on a beach someplace looking at the "scenery" and enjoying a cocktail before and after the game, not walking in Times Square looking at chicks in parkas.

Then again, I'll never be able to afford the SB experience anyway so fuck it...play anywhere-my living room is temperature controlled.

There is a reason that NY is in the top 3 or so destinations in the US for vacations. Even in the dead of winter people flock to the city so obviously something attracts the people. I understand why the NFL wanted a game in NY as it is the 2nd biggest market behind LA in the country and since LA doesn't have an NFL team that makes NY the ideal place to try and have a Super Bowl to gain the greatest money.

I'm biased toward the NYC area, but given the option of vacation in New York or vacation in Jacksonville, NYC it is. If places with nothing to offer like Indy and Detroit were able to host then why not NY? If you're wealthy enough to go to the game then you can afford a week in NYC.

Yep. Not digging at NY or anything. D-town and Indy aren't top 5 winter destinations for me either and shouldn't get SBs. To me, the SB needs to be south...way south.

Just my opinion. We're all entitled to them.
