Refs told Dan Campbell that Decker couldn't report as eligible because Skipper already had. Not that Sewell blocked him, or they didn't see him. That it didn't matter because once Skipper reported nobody else could.

Assuming it's just this ref not knowing the rules. But I'm sure the NFL will explain to us that during the process of reporting as eligible Decker did not complete the process because he didn't touch his right wrist to his forehead or some other obscure arcane rule that has always been the rule.

Skipper was a long way from the ref when Sewell and Decker came up to him.

That’s where I think the mistake happened.

Goff specifically said in his presser than Skipper didn’t report and Decker did.

no the TE (I think he was) covered him, but worse he was lined up in the tackle position. Which makes him illegible even if the formation was right.

I would not be happy if I were a Cowboys fan. They got outplayed again and this time at home. Only the Lions Dumbfuckery saved them. This game should have been a 12 point Lions win.

They weren't outplayed. The fluky Lamb fumble/touchback saved the Lions from getting blown out early

A center can be eligible to catch a pass if he’s the guy at the end of the line.

Decker wasn’t covered by anyone outside of him on the line. He was good to go, if he reported.

Only if Decker wasn't eligible.
Illegal touching because he wasn't eligible
Illegal man downfield... because he wasn't eligible.
Illegal formation... because Decker was the last man on the line and he wasn't eligible.


If he reported as eligible it wasn't illegal touching, but it also wasn't illegal for him to be downfield, and it wasn't an illegal formation.

If the ref hadn't fucked up there was no other flags in that play.

I'd take my chances against Philly. They are division rivals & logic goes out when Division rivals play each other.

Looks like it would have counted if the refs didn't mess up. All the penalties were derived from them messing up who was eligible/ineligible.
