3 runs in 18 innings. Thank goodness Erlin was terrific & we split the doubleheader. Still lost 2 of 3. On to Detroit to go up against a team that has HUGE expectations this season.

I'm admittedly very concerned about what the Tigers are capable of doing to the Padres right now. When we have runners in position, we don't hit. Period.

Very sorry to see the Padres DFA Xavier Nady. Have so many good memories when he was the man at Jack Murphy. I think someone will pick him up as he's great in the clubhouse and a versatile veteran.

Gettys was a huge hit or miss pick. Hopefully they sign him. I don't know how well they did with this draft. I just hope this team gets better. So many injuries to the pitching staff & the lineup can be summed up in 1 word, AWFUL!!

The team announced today that they have selected INF Chris Nelson from Triple-A El Paso. Nelson is batting .293 with 24 hits in 82 at bats for the Chihuahuas.

Irving Falu was claimed off waivers from the Brewers yesterday which opened up a spot on the 25-man roster.

Nelson signed a minor league contract with the Padres on June 19th. He spent the first two and half months of the 2014 season with the Cincinnati Reds organization at the Triple-A level. Nelson will wear #1.

With today’s move, the Padres currently have 25 active players on their 25-man roster and a full 40-man roster.
