2009: Eagles home opener against New Orleans; Saints go on to win Super Bowl

2010: Eagles home opener against Green Bay; Packers go on to win Super Bowl

2011: Eagles home opener against NY Giants; Giants go on to win Super Bowl

2012: Eagles home opener against Baltimore; Ravens go on to win Super Bowl

2013: Eagles home opener against San Diego...

...so we KNOW Chargers will win the Super Bowl.

Chargers will win Super Bowl XLVIII, according to Eagles schedule

For the past four seasons, the first game at Lincoln Financial Field has featured the eventual Super Bowl champion.

The San Diego Chargers have never won a Super Bowl in franchise history, but if the "law of the Philadelphia Eagles home opener" holds, that could change in 2013.

What's the law you ask?

Since 2009, the team that Philadelphia plays in its home opener has gone on to win the Super Bowl. Seriously -- and here's a refresher, just in case you need it.

The Eagles first home game in 2009 was against New Orleans. The Saints beat the Colts in Super Bowl XLIV.

In 2010, Green Bay opened up Philadelphia's home schedule and guess what happened? The Packers beat the Steelers in Super Bowl XLV.

The streak didn't end in 2011 because that's when the Eagles opened up their home schedule with the New York Giants, the same Giants that beat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI.

In 2012, the first regular season game at Lincoln Financial Field featured the Eagles against -- you guessed it, the Ravens. Of course, the Ravens went on to beat the 49ers in Super Bowl XLVII.

Why the San Diego Chargers are guaranteed to win the Super Bowl

This stat has picked the winner of the last four Lombardi trophies.

After Sunday, eight teams will play seven games over three weekends to determine who will hoist the Lombardi Trophy on the first Sunday of February. None of that will be necessary because we already know who will win Super Bowl XLVIII. It’s the San Diego Chargers.

[...]

Here’s a list of the teams the Philadelphia Eagles have faced in their home openers over the past four seasons. You’ll notice each of these teams have something in common.

2009 — vs. New Orleans Saints

2010 — vs. Green Bay Packers

2011 — vs. New York Giants

2012 — vs. Baltimore Ravens

Every team Philly played in its first regular season game at Lincoln Financial Field went on to win the Super Bowl. New Orleans, Green Bay, New York and Baltimore. You’ll never guess who the Eagles played to start their 2013 home campaign. (Although the headline and all the previous text may have provided some foreshadowing.)

2013 — vs. San Diego Chargers

There it is. Because San Diego opened Philly’s home season, the Chargers will be winning it all.

Obviously it means nothing, but that's a crazy trend. Wonder what the odds are of having that happen 4 straight years.

The past 3 SB champs have also lost to the Redskins during the regular season. Guess who lost to the Redskins this season? The Chargers.....Team of destiny? Wtf...

I've mentioned this weird fact a few times already in a coupla threads.

Both those stats come out on NFC east threads for the past 4 years now... Or at least until the trend ends.

You think that victory against Bengals today was happenstance?

No, it was DESTINY. :laugh3:

On Week 17, when San Diego's chance at that 6th wild card spot required tons of things to break their way (the Ravens to lose, the Dolphins to lose to a bad team, some field goal miracles, etc.), you think that was luck?

No, it was DESTINY. :laugh3:

When the Chargers took out supposedly unstoppable Peyton Manning on Denver's own home field, that wasn't a fluke.

No, it was DESTINY. :laugh3:

And what do you think is gonna happen to Denver next week?

You can't fight DESTINY! Team of FATE!

Much Weirder stat than this was how long the one with skins winning and or losing a game correlated to who won the presidential election.

The fact that the Chargers are now only two wins away from being in the Superbowl is hilarious. I'm almost pulling for them. Lets not forget that they already beat the Broncos in Denver once this year...
