I agree with most of this.

I think it still would be wise to pick a qb in this upcoming draft if the team likes one, and they are available. Better to have too many prospects than too little, and nothing should be settled one way or another with one SH start - even if it's an amazing start.
In an alternate reality, the team always has a QB waiting in the wings in which we trade them away for a 2nd round pick year after year like the Patriots did about 10 years ago. It was so frustrating to see the Patriots draft a QB in the 7th and then flip them 3-4 years later for a 2nd-round pick like clockwork.

On the surface I agree. That being said, if SH is great against Dallas, we should be using our 1 and 2 on OL and corner because there won’t be a QB worth taking at the 15 range. It would also give us reason not to go chasing a veteran.

That would make sense if we truly believe Howell is the "guy". Rivera got the WR set last year but weakened the OLine. If we address the OLine and grab a starting TE via FA....then Howell should have what he needs from a personnel standpoint.

I think we need to move on from Thomas as he cannot stay on the field anymore it seems. I like Dalton Schultz to be honest. I am not sure Bates is ready to be a #1 yet.

rodgers or turner would have to jump to TE 1

Hmmm, not sure either is ready to be honest. We might have to roll with Bates, Turner, and Rodgers.

I like Schultz though. However, we don't have endless cap and he might not be interested in coming here. We have more pressing needs on the team than TE. That being said, a pass-catching TE is a safety valve for a young QB as you know.

I have to respectfully disagree. Did TH starting that playoff game move the needle for him? Of course it did. Before that game, no one believed TH would survive that game and go on to be a fairly competent back up qb. Did Purdy’s first start in SF move the needle for him? Of course it did. Purdy is now believed to be a strong prospect. 3 weeks ago, no one knew him other that being Mr irrelevant.
Howell‘s performance may not tell us if he will be a star, but it could tell us if he is a bust If he completely falls apart.
You're talking about a QB who's first game was a playoff game due to an injured starter. And another that replaced the injured starter in the midst of their team's playoff run n trying to win their division. Taylor was also fortunate one could say as Fitz was done for the year due to injury. In the very next game after the playoff game. Howell starting the last game of the year for a last place team doesn't generate the same intensity or importance. If anything Howell should've started like Purdy did, after Wentz was hurt. Regardless of what Taylor's done this year. He's a flawed n limited QB. No sensible Skins fan thought he was leading them on a run deep into the playoffs.

I don’t disagree that Howell should have been considered after wentz got injured Or your assessment of Taylor. or even the meaningfulness of the situation. all I’m saying is that there can be opportunities to improve, or worsen, his status as an NFL Qb.

let’s face it, if the kid goes lights out against a cowboys team fighting for something, all the sudden, our needs in the draft might change priorities. On the flip side, if he stinks it up and looks completely over matched, well, then we know.

We absolutely need to pick a qb in this draft. And keep picking one until we get it right. But if Howell shows us he belongs in the nfl but needs development, then maybe we don’t make some desperate trade down th nab a potential. But we spend this picks boosting the OL.

Don’t underestimate his legs, either. It’s almost always about the intangibles with the QBs.

I will say this : we need to stop looking for other teams to develop a QB and give them to us. We have to realize we are going to have to develop our own. Teams don’t regularly give away franchise QBs. Focus this draft on building the rest of the team to support a developing QB.

1 game proves nothing. Even Wentz had 1 good game in him this year. If it was Wentz or his equivalent playing this Sunday and he put up similar numbers that Wentz did against Jax and w/o the 2 INTs. Any changing of draft priorities likely puts the need of a QB on a back burner seriously downgraded far as importance goes. One things the Skins have had in decent abundance far as the QB position goes. Is impressive play from them early on. Be it their first game, Ferotte, Ramsey, the aforementioned Wentz, first handful of games, Todd Collins, first hot minute or so, Schroeder, first season, Johnson, Griffin, first Super Bowl, Joey T, Williams, Rypien.

An even worse scenario would be. He has a really shitty game, but on the real he's a baller. That will naturally ramp up the importance of getting a QB as well as kill any hope Howell is that dude. And even hope that Howell is a good back up fades and they trade him or he asks for his release. Eventually getting a real opportunity to show what he can do with another team. And we get to witness Howell ballin 9000 for another team for the next 12 or so years.

Nah, 1 game isn't gonna show anything 1 way or the other. Already though Skins fans are wishing n hoping. If Howell does have a good game fans like dean will be ready to crown him. Just like he originally crowned Taylor, before he started crushin on Wentz.

You crowned Wentz before he took his first snap here. You didn't listen to anything anyone else said about Wentz. You downplayed every win the Skins had with Taylor using any excuse you could to justify why Taylor won games and Wentz didn't. You, dean, you were crowning people.

It does happens all the time. Again, dont worry about the stats. He is playing against one of the best defenses on a team rife with injuries and no motivation. So, yeah, his stats may look poor. But to those that know (and I don’t claim to be one), they can see how he plays. Can he go through his progressions timely Or does he lock on one receiver? Is he situationally aware? Does he have natural pocket prsesence? It’s those intangibles that make or break QBs in the nfl. Hell, they can all throw and most now a days can run. But does he know when to run? Does he know when to throw it away?

What I don’t expect is is for him to be able pre read defenses or set protection consistently. With our line, expect a handful of sacks. I also expect his timing with his receivers to be off. So his % completion my be low. I also expect him to only pass 20-25 times. We will see a heavy dose on Robinson.
