We could only hope to draft an elite QB such as Kirk Cousins.

Oh we got jokes now.

So, what do Haley's commit and an Eagles Super Bowl appearance have in common??

Both are a once in a life time event. And neither is even remotely as exciting as you were lead to believe as a kid. :D

Huh?! Haley's Comet has actually come around, albeit once in several decades. The coming of a Philly Super Bowl is like a scientologist waiting around for the dreaded Xenu to show up.

It would be interesting to see how Foles would have done if he had stayed. We will never know of course.

To be fair here, Rodgers current contract figure was from a 2013 deal. Still, I get your point.

These things are all a matter of timing. None of it means that any given QB is the best or in the top 5. An example would be Flacco who as of now is the highest paid QB in the NFL, and absolutely nobody believes that he is anywhere near the best QB in the league.

If Foles had stayed, you guys would've had enough cap space to re-sign Maclin. That's important since you wouldn't have to spend your 2015 first rounder on Nelson Algoholor. Instead, you could've gotten someone like OG Laken Tomlinson, who was drafted eight spots later, to replace Todd Herremans. In turn, you should've kept Mathis for one more year. By doing that, you'd have an o-line with a nice blend of young and veteran talent and a playmaking WR like Maclin.

This year, you then could've gotten rid of Mathis and Peters' bloated cap numbers. You use the first rounder to take a RT and swing Lane Johnson to LT. You could then possibly take another guard to replace Mathis with a third rounder. If that happened, you'd have a very young and up-and-coming o-line.

The other problem with acquiring Foles is that you gave up this year's second round pick.

The flip side, of course is how Foles would've done in Philly. Yes, he flopped in St. Louis and he regressed in his last year in Philly. But with a better o-line and playing yet another year in Chippy's system, I'm not sure how much worse he'd have been than Bradford. And considering the price you had to pay for Bradford, that really is a kicker, now isn't it?

Here's another way to look at Bradford's deal: between his $7M guaranteed salary and $11M signing bonus, he's being paid $18M this year. If so, the Eagles should've placed the transition tag on him. The tag would've been less than what he's getting this year and, because there was simply no market for him, especially one that would've paid him the contract he got, why not go that route?
