Wow, you are so cool. You can point out a really obvious typo based on two letters right next to each other on a keyboard. And instead of addressing the point at hand, this is how you respond.

Now here are four more sad songs from the actual writer and performer of Cat's in the Cradle:

Harry Chapin was a fav of mine for many years. I'd say another of his that's maybe the saddest is "Mr Tanner". "One" by Three Dog Night is also pretty sad.

I just listened to Cat's in the Cradle again. I never knew my father, and the tears flowed the way they always do when I hear that song.

Not being much of a lyrics person, I'd never really paid attention to what this song was about.....but just recently read its about a guy who tried to kill himself, failed, then escaped from the hospital to go jump off a bridge......once put into that context it really takes it to another level of sadness and desperation:

Has anyone mentioned "Long Black Veil"? Not sure who first recorded it - it may be listed as 'traditional'... Dave Matthews has an excellent version. Johnny Cash & The Band have good covers...

Ten years ago on a cold dark night
Someone was killed 'neath the town hall lights
There were few at the scene, but they all agreed
That the slayer who ran, looked a lot like me

Now she walks these hills, in a long black veil
She visits my grave, when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows, but me

The scaffold is high, and eternity's near
She stood in the crowd, and shed not a tear
But some times at night, when the cold wind moans
In a long black veil, she cries over my bones

Now she walks these hills, in a long black veil
She visits my grave, when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows, but me

The judge said son, what is your alibi
If you were somewhere else, then you won't have to die
I spoke not a word, though it meant my life
I'd been in the arms of my best friends wife

Now she walks these hills, in a long black veil
She visits my grave, when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows, but me

Rosanne Cash's version is just as good as her dad's:
