Congrats to the refs/Sabres!

Seriously though...I haven't seen officiating that bad in a looong time. I try not to complain about the refs but that was so bad that it just can't be ignored.

Most of you know I try and be as honest as possible while watching the games or series.

No question the Flyers are the better team top to bottom.

The officiating was terrible! There were calls missed both ways early on against the Flyers and later against the Sabres. The Flyers got the worst of it no question at all.

The goal tending last night at both ends was absolutely fantastic and it's a shame one of the goalies had to lose.

The Sabres goal was a very pretty three way passing play and a nice goal.

The Sabres defense has been bailed out by Miller on numerous occasions. They are VERY young and making some bad mistakes. This is the first playoff exp for three of the D men and it shows.

Lets not forget the Sabres had to kill off what, 10 penalties in game two? Not making excuses but pointing out again the officiating has been terrible. There is NO consistency at ALL!

The series is tied at 2 and I still think the Flyers will win it.

Lets hope the ref's let the TEAMS decide the games from here on out. Good luck the rest of the way Flyer fans.

Miller saves his team once again. Sorry, there's no other way to summarize this. The Flyers completely dominated the third period and the only two things keeping them from scoring were an extremely questionable five minute power play, which drained a quarter of the period, and Ryan Miller.

It's a shame that it had to end that way and not go to overtime like the other two games.

Yeah lets not forget the amazing play by the post in the first period, could have been 3 goals for the sabres. Then Boucher comes up with amazing save on Ennis. That's why teams have goaltenders so they can save the puck. Doesn't this scare flyers fans when the sabres haven't been playing all that well yet the flyers have pretty much been on top of there game. What happens if the flyers have a night off or the sabres have a great game?

No not scared, because the flyers are just that much more talented than the sabres..hands down.

Miller is the difference. Yea you guys hit the posts, but I think we hit 3 as well. That game could have had so many different outcomes its amazing.

I'm glad that you noticed it too because today Ruff was saying that the Flyers are whining and crying and that the refs were fine.

Not disagreeing with the overall point, but in the interview, Ruff didn't say that the officiating was fine, just that he thought that the Flyers were whining after the last two games but weren't whining in games 1 and 2 when the Flyers had the PP advantage.

Semantics I know, but a difference for sure.

« BLOGS Sabres EdgeVideo: John Vogl's Sabres-Flyers update
April 21, 2011 - 3:37 PM | Comment
John Vogl talks about the Sabres' optional practice today, as well as today's interviews with coach Lindy Ruff, goalie Ryan Miller, defenseman Tyler Myers and forward Tyler Ennis.

Here it is:

Ruff on Flyers: 'They’re really doing a lot of whining'
April 21, 2011 - 1:56 PM | Comment
Mike Richards thinks the Sabres got away with murder. Lindy Ruff isn't going to let the Philly captain get away with that.

Richards complained about the officiating following the Sabres' 1-0 victory Wednesday night, a win that tied the series at 2-2. Ruff responded today before flying to Philadelphia for Game Five on Friday night.

"I just feel that there’s a lot of whining," the Sabres' coach said in HSBC Arena. "They’re really doing a lot of whining. I didn’t hear any whining when they had 10 power plays in Philly, and I didn’t hear them whining when the power plays in the first game were lopsided. But all of sudden there’s all this whining about we’re getting away with murder. That’s a bunch of crap. That’s for the media. That’s for the officials to read. That’s for, 'Here, let’s get the next call.' It’s a bunch of crap. Let’s just play.

"We’re just playing. There hasn’t been one word about officiating out of us, but if they want to cry about the officiating or whine about different calls, go ahead.

"It’s going to be decided by the emotion on the ice, how hard you want to play and how hard you want to compete and how dirty you want to get. I accept the fact the emotions are going to be ramped up real high in that game. I want to see what players come to the top of that."

The complete audio of Ruff's news conference is below, as is Ryan Miller's chat. The goaltender chuckled at Richards' statement and said the captain is just trying to deflect attention from the fact he took a five-minute major for elbowing.

But still the games are decided by one goal. Boucher is the difference maker for philly as well. I don't know, I wouldn't say they have more talent that they should be sweeping the sabres but the difference has been one goal for every game! I think they are much closer then philly fans would like to say.

I honestly don't read that as him saying that the officiating is fine, but only saying that the officiating has been equal for both teams and leaving the meaning of that up to interpretation.

As I said...semantics.

Wait a second. You think the Flyers "have pretty much been on top of there game...?" I've got a news flash for you. They haven't been on top of their game since before the All-Star break and Pronger, a dominant force in the playoffs, is still out of the lineup along with Carter now too.

I've stated this earlier and it still appears to be holding true. Miller may steal two or three games in this series, but his team is going down in 6 or 7 regardless. The Flyers will collect themselves enough to get the job done. Just too much talent and too much playoff experience, especially with the return of Pronger. I have yet to see the Flyers play a truly great game in this series. It is still to come.

And the sabres don't have injuries too? I love all the complains. Yes the Flyers have been playing well! You just don't walk into the playoffs and expect to destroy teams 8-2 it just doesn't happen anymore. I hope you're wrong with your prediction. Either way still a fun series!
