Sabres coach Lindy Ruff said. "We get great support on the road. Here is one of the better places. You go down to Tampa, that's another one, even Florida. There's certain cities where you look in the crowd and there's a lot of Buffalo people. This is one of them, and they're vocal here."
Why does this only seem to be a problem in Raleigh and not Tampa. Atlanta or Miami? When my son lived in Greenville (about 60 miles from Raleigh) he said during the 06 playoffs a TV station was doing a live feed from RBC talking about "rowdy Sabres fans" as he was doing his report you could hear in the back ground a horn beep the "Let's Go Buffalo" chant....happens all the time after wins at HSBC. His comment was "There go some more obnoxious Sabres fans". Beeping your teams chant is "Obnoxious"!?
My boy said "Dad they want the Sabres fans to show up and sit on their hands and not cheer". Sure seems that way too me.
At Leafs V Sabres games there are a lot of fans for BOTH teams. Good natured smack talk back and forth but no problems.
What do they put in the fucking water down there that makes them so sensitive?
I think it's the only time that the Canes get an audience of this size from the visiting team. Other teams like Pitt and Detroit travel well in this area too, but as the article says, there are a lot of displaced Buffalonians in the Carolinas (me and my wife included).
There are definitely some Sabres fans that act like jerks though in Raleigh. I don't think the % of good fans to jerks is any higher than the other teams, it's just that there are more Sabres fans that show, so there's more jerks in sheer numbers.
