If Pegula were to fire Darcy right now who would replace him? I don't think there's anyone really available right now is there?

By the way word is Moulson has asked the Sabres for a 6 year deal if they want to keep him.

I am available at great personal sacrifice to accept a multi-year multi-million $ contract to help right the ship in Buffalo. As long as I don't actually have to go there in winter.

I wish the isles had traded Moulson to the western conference. He always does well vs the Devils.

Regier will trade him again. It's only a matter of time.

The Sabres don't seem to be handling their young players very well.

Based on what? Besides playing so many young kids at one time, what are they doing wrong to hurt their development? Seems to me that most of them are finding their way and actually holding their own so far. Zadorov played over 20 minutes and scored his 1st goal in his 3rd game. And we all know it's not easy being a rookie defenseman in the League. Girgensons is throwing his weight around, and has looked impressive.

Way too early to tell how this will all pan out, but I don't see anything wrong with how they are being handled right now.

I guess if I'm going to be fair, I'll say that what they do on draft day is usually OK, it's what comes after where they either force the newly drafted guys into the lineup too early (Grigorenko) or they completely mismanage the players and their junior eligibility (oddly enough, Grigorenko also).

It's been stated and reported a few times already that Grigs problem is himself. You won't find anyone in or outside the organization who will say that it's not his fault for the situation he's in right now. The players in the locker room have stated that he's been given plenty of chances to prove himself, and his attitude has sucked so far.

But since they can't send him to Rochester and Juniors is a waste of time, they are stuck trying to figure out what to do. He did get more time and looked better in the game against the Stars however.

I base my comment on history. It all depends on the player. Some will handle it better than others.

Not the debut most people were hoping for from Vanek tonight.

Played almost 20 minutes and only had 1 SOG.

Ok, then which young players have the Sabres ruined recently that was entirely on them and not the player?

History throughout the league. Not the Sabres in particular. Do you honestly believe Myers has developed the way the team thought he would? Where's McNab? How's Pysyk doing. It wasn't to long ago the Sabres were a team to be reckoned with. It's been a slow painful decline to where they are now. This isn't the year to suck & get the 1st pick. Next year is.

My team has sucked for years due to horrible ownership & management. At least Sabres fans know their owner will do what it takes to win. What I don't know is whether or not he meddles to much or if he just lets the hockey people do their jobs.

In fairness it probably is his fault the Isles didn't upgrade their G or D.

If they are unhappy they should be calling for Garth's head

Garth offered Nino for Bernier & Lombardi said no. He wanted to cut a little payroll & get a backup goalie in the deal. The Isles & Kings weren't a good match.

The Isles didn't have a top 10 pick & weren't about to give up Strome or Nelson to get Schneider. The goaltending situation will probably be taken care of in the offseason.

The Isles looked like crap tonight. They weren't organized. They couldn't beat the Rangers backup goalie in their home building after the biggest acquisition since Ryan Smyth. I can sum it up in one word, PATHETIC!!

Oh, because you said the Sabres don't seem to be handling their young players very well, so I assumed you were talking about the current group they have right now?

As far as the 3 players you mentioned above, you can't say it's the team's fault for where they are right now. Myers played amazing in his rookie season and has regressed like a mo'fo since. That's on him, not the Organization.

McNabb played 25 games back in 2011-12 and recorded 8 points. The Sabres sent him back to Rochester to help him develop a bit more. Not surprising since he was a 3rd Round Pick, but he's been doing alright in Rochester.

Pysyk hasn't been outstanding, but he hasn't been terrible either. He's still only 21, and we all know it takes a few years for defensemen to find their way.

Sabres won this deal so hard it's not even funny.

I mean, the Isles might have won too - how the Isles did is basically dependent on how they do for the rest of the season, and if Vanek drives them deep into the playoffs then it might be worth it - but at the end of the year, Buffalo was going to have no Vanek, and no Moulson. Now they will have no Vanek and no Moulson, but they WILL have an extra first and a second, and more if/when they flip Moulson too. I'm not sold that a rental for Vanek is worth that kind of commitment - at least not if you are the Isles, who aren't exactly one piece away from the cup in my mind.

Vanek was pretty much a ghost last night against us. Except for that one good opportunity he had early in the game. Surprised we were able to shut him down.

I see it a bit differently. Moulson wasn't going to be resigned by the Isles. They didn't give up Strome, Nelson, Reinhart, Pulock, Pelech or Pokka in the deal. So the young stud D is still in the system as are their top 2 forward prospects. The 1st round pick is top 10 protected for 2014. 2nd round picks are dealt all the time so it's really no big deal to me. One thing to keep in mind is if the Isles crap the bed for the next 70 games & Vanek says no to an extension which I expect him to do anyway the Isles can trade Vanek come deadline time.

deadline is way before that, but that aside I still think they gave up too much for Vanek.

I can barely believe i'm saying this but I think Darcy actually got the better of thr deal. The fact that the Isles didn't part with any of the prospects you mention doesnt change that.
