Rutgers @ Louisville kicks off in one hour. 4:30 Pacific.

Word is, NFL reps are out in force checking out Teddy Bridgewater.

A Nationally televised game for Bridgewater, may be one of only a couple. Teddy will look to make a huge impression on the CFB Nation.

Louisville needs to look very impressive tonight for obvious reasons. Possibly the toughest team on the schedule and a heavily criticized schedule.... Cards need to kick some ass tonight to make a statement.

the brave Scarlet Knights of Rutgers University (established 1766) head over 700 miles West, across the whole state of Pennsylvania, across the whole state of Ohio, to the Indiana/Kentucky border, where on the Ohio River, sits their destination: the American metropolis of Louisville: home of the Kentucky Derby, Papa Johns, KFC, Louisville Slugger, UPS Airlines and one of the largest inland ports in the country. There, they will go to battle as 19 point dogs against the high and mighty Cardinals of the University of Louisville (established 1798)

Louisville (who joins the ACC in 2014) joined the Big East in 2005, while Rutgers joined the Big East in 1991.

all-time, Rutgers has only played two Louisville teams that finished with 10 or more wins. And, they are also the only two Louisville teams Rutgers has ever faced that finished in the Top 15. In both cases, Rutgers played them tough:

2012 -- Rutgers lost 17-20 to Louisville (UL finished 11-2 and ranked #13)
2006 -- Rutgers won 28-25 over Louisville (UL finished 12-1 and ranked #6)

and, Rutgers has played Louisville tough each of the last three times they have played @Louisville:

Rutgers lost 14-16 at Louisville
Rutgers won 34-14 at Louisville
Rutgers lost 38-41 at Louisville

said Mike Teel, who quarterbacked Rutgers from 2005-08:
“It’s sad because you finally start to develop a rivalry ... You’re playing against a year-in, year-out Top 25 team in Louisville that always puts a good team on the field. You can feel that rivalry developing with our fan base and with their fan base when we play down there.”

“The atmosphere at these games is just tremendous,” said ESPN analyst Jesse Palmer, the color analyst for the network's Thursday night college football crew for the past six years. “It’s big-time college football, and it feels like that when you are at the game. It’s a game I know we get really excited about calling.”

“It’s a great rivalry,” Rutgers redshirt sophomore safety Tejay Johnson said. “It’s mano-a-mano. Brick against brick. They’re not soft. We’re not soft. We’re coming out there trying to get them and they’re trying to get us. Great respect for each other. Every game is always a fast, physical game.”

said Teddy Bridgewater: “Both teams, both schools hate each other. But at the same time, we both respect each other. The level of play is so high when the University of Louisville and Rutgers meet that the rivalry just took off.”

But what conference realignment giveth, conference realignment taketh away. Louisville, which joined the American Athletic Conference (nee Big East) from Conference USA in 2005, is heading to the ACC next season. Rutgers is off to the Big Ten, and there is no talk of a continuation of the series despite the existing relationship between Rutgers athletics director Julie Hermann and her mentor Tom Jurich at Louisville.

fun fact: the Louisville Cardinals are named after the cardinal because it's the state bird of Kentucky... it's also the state bird of six other states, and Louisville is right in the middle of all seven of them.
